Echoing what Brad said the good news is if that Russia can't beat the Ukrainians they will get their asses kicked badly by the US and 30 NATO countries Plus like Jetophile said the Russian population will see their standard of living drop like a rock after all those services/comforts like Coke and McKie Ds leaving ..No Disney No Pixar ..nothing to keep the kids happy and parents go nuts. By one month mark, if Ukrainians hold out ..3/24 is when I predict 100k Russians start protesting Best outcome is beat Putin in this Proxy war..get around the red tape and give Ukraine those old MIGs from Poland. Also have Russians depose him and ,hopefully, get a leader who sues for peace Pray those Russian rockets stay clear of the Nuclear Reactors cause that's a Nuclear event without a conventional Nuclear attack if one gets a direct hit
The bad part is the Russian people suffer also. Unfortunately, they don’t have the influence we have on our government here, and all they get out of protesting is arrested, and possibly treason.
I'm sorry for not being clearer. I was responding to the willingness of Americans to make sacrifices for the Ukraine-Russia war versus WWII. You state we are actively fighting a war now. Do you think it compares to how we actively fought in WWII? Have we been attacked on our oil soil like we were at Pearl Harbor? Have we instituted a draft ( I am aware only 4% of the military were drafted in WWII but still people were drafted.) Almost half a million soldiers were American killed in WWII. We sent troops to both Europe and to the Pacific. Of course the American people would be more apt to make sacrifices at home under those circumstances. We don't have soldiers fighting in the Ukraine. We haven't been attacked. It's not an apples and oranges comparison, whether you want to say we are actively at war or not.
I think people are vastly underestimating the average Russian's capacity to put up with grim, miserable circumstances. These are people that have been living with grim, miserable circumstances for generations. They're used to it. They have the stomach for it. Be interesting to see how much stomach Americans have. Based on the usual MAGA nitwits here whining about gas prices, I'm not overly optimistic.
Let them try to arrest 100000 people not just a few thousand The longer Putin tries to capture 1 space on the chessboard the more it costs him
Ha, I really doubt it’s just maga people complaining about prices. Most people , this is an inconvenience. But the ones really paying, are the poor and disenfranchised. You know, the ones who were the whole world during election season, they are now being told to shut their traps while they decide to eat, or heat their home.
Being reported that Russia have cut off the power supply to Chernobyl now. My concern is them leaving with some sort of scorched earth policy and withdrawing to the eastern provinces. Leaving an uninhabitable wasteland in central Ukraine which is a massive wheat growing area.
Hopefully we start to see those numbers. I think the other day, it was cnn , one of their people that lives in Moscow that said still, only about 19% oppose the war.
That’s based on telephone poll. Nobody wants to answer the phone in Russia and tell them they oppose what Putin is doing haha probably worried they will be prisoners building train tracks in Siberia if they answered that way
Yeah ..Imagine having all the fun things the West can offer for 30 years and then having than taken away Plus the ruble has no value..no banking ..no VISA cards working ..no Travel All the ingredients for another Russian Revolution (see Russia after end of WW 1) ..The body bags from the war start mounting
Putin's nostalgia for the USSR probably does not equal the average Russian inability to comprehend exactly how bad life was under Communist rule. Just wait until the queues start.
It wasn't that long ago though. Most of their adults were alive during communist rule and know it well. The younger generation is slightly different but its not like they were greatly exposed to the cosmopolitan west, the media is controlled, they are only fed small doses I thought Dierking's post was spot on.
Yes and very interesting that NATO has expanded during every American Presidency since Clinton's but not during Bidens. Stop eating catfood Soxxx, it gives you catbreath.
This isn't exactly great proof but I saw a comment from a guy who claimed to have a friend that worked in the US defense industry. The friend said that in general, if it's publicly stated that a program had ceased being worked on it just meant that they've really made a lot of progress on it and are still actively developing or fine tuning it.
