You realize nothing is free. Someone will pay for that tax credit, which will lead to costs elsewhere. All the people who thought the government could just create free money without a cost are now paying for it now. Same applies to tax credits. It will trickle right down to the people you think you will be helping.
Boy, I wish I could say with confidence, "We Americans are so much smarter than the Ukrainians! We would never believe Russian propaganda over the eyewitness testimony of our own relatives!" Putin's disinformation is so effective that Ukrainians can't convince their own families in Russia they are under attack (msn.com)
We're actively fighting a war now also. The difference is that the other side has nuclear weapons so we are going in with as little direct commitment as possible. This isn't going to work for long though. When Putin gets desperate he will change the terms of engagement again and we will be forced into a full-fledged war. The two main actors that could make a change to what is a bad scenario are Putin and the Russian people. Putin by accepting that he has screwed the pooch here and withdrawing from Ukraine. The Russian people by massing in numbers against the war and forcing Putin out. And yes, this can be done but it takes a lot of people to decide to actively do it.
The masses of Russian people really need to protest and get their voices heard. Many still live in a false reality behind state based media. Putin is going to whatever he feels will make him look strong in the eyes of his country. He is a coward, especially when he sits a mile away from other delegates at table gatherings
If he can’t beat the Ukraine why would he pick a fight with the United States? When Florida State loses to Appalachian State they aren’t petitioning to play the no. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide the following week (ok not an appropriate analogy but you get my point)
The concern with Putin, at least my concern, is that he's not in his right mind at the moment. He's said a lot of things along the line "if Russia does not exist then the world does not need to exist." If Putin considers himself to be Russia, one and indivisible, then if he is going to die or is dying... Well, we wind up with a horrific situation. I really hope there are outs on the Russian side because even if we come to the conclusion that the first idea is the case it is going to be very hard to kill Putin before he goes off.
I really hope DARPA has lived up to their reputation when the fireworks commence. We were the ones who came up with the hypersonic ballistic missile concept however if you believe Wikipedia we cancelled the program in the late 00's. Hopefully that's because we found a flaw in the concept and decided to exploit the flaw as a cheaper alternative than developing a new delivery system. We were actually looking at the HBM's as conventional delivery platforms not nuclear. The idea being breaking ABM defenses of the time. Of course all of this is likely just smoke on the wind. The DoD doesn't release information into the public domain without a strong rationalization.
I was out all day... Have the Russians gotten hold of the Ukraine biological research facilities yet?
McDonald's, Starbucks, and Coca-Cola are all shutting down restaurants/suspending sales and operations in Russia. PepsiCo is also pulling some products. https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/08/business/mcdonalds-pepsi-coke-russia/index.html Now the rioting begins! I see this as a good thing because it's just another way for the people who don't believe that Russia is actually waging war on Ukraine to seriously question what the hell is going on here. Putin will find a way to spin it that's for damn sure.
Oh, it’s bad! Lol. We finally have a good board now. But for years we had these 2 women who were obsessed with control. They wouldn’t even hear proposals for new materials being allowed. Until I caught them allowing a change in siding for a local roofer who bought a house in here… next thing he’s getting hardee board , and they are both getting new roof.
