People in this topic are supporting the slaughter of Ukranians, supporting Nazis, and supporting a financial collapse in America.

Just because I don't support this insane unhinged desperate obsession does not mean I support Putin. Hopefully this all ends up being worth it for the people supporting the insanity I listed above.

That's a load of horseshit and you know it. No one is supporting any of that. The fact is that Russia invaded the Ukraine. What led to it is immaterial in regards to your post. So there are two sides to choose from: Russia or Ukraine. I don't see how anyone could favor Russia over Ukraine. The clear choice is Ukraine. You don't say fuck Ukraine because a tiny faction of their armed forces are Nazis. The slaughter of Ukranians can only be limited by supporting their country. And I'm not buying into your financial doom and gloom.

Russia has turned ukraine into a killing field you moral weakling. You really are just an old idiot, that's why you're unmarried, no kids, and you have to prey on the young people. People your own age can't stand your bullshit. You are a bizarre sad, human. The same goes for all Putin supporters. I bet you would have been a member of the german american bund.

Social media for the most part is a cancer and a blight when it comes down to the SOCIAL aspect. My opinion on that will never change. And spying. Don't the forget spying. You could not fcking pay me.

I can be gullible at times with spoonfed narratives because journalism is dead, but I am street smart in some ways. Walk in the middle of the sidewalk so you don't get rolled from the street and you don't get rolled from the store front. Even not knowing the reference, I laughed at the body bag thing, too. C'mon.

Russia is gonna go WWII old school and start pounding Ukraine and Russia with flyers and pamplets about Nazis, Russia didn't bomb anything, there is no war, Ukraine is kaput, we came in peace or any of those combinations.o_O

It's heartening to hear that people like you look critically at the spoonfed narratives. Here's more info on the effectiveness of the Russian propaganda machine:

None of this has anything to do with the topic and you’re literally the reason the politics forum got shut down and threads like this get shut down. Shut the fuck up with this nonsense already and grow up.

I believe the reason the Politics sub forum got shut down was the mods couldn't differentiate the trolls from the normal posters and the troll-on-troll action was getting out of hand with no way to manage it on a case by case basis.

So you shut the whole thing down and the problem goes away. Except politics is everywhere now and things like Ukraine are bound to happen.

Yes, all their devices work on 3G and 4G so without those towers they couldn't use them. Not sure how using a local sim card helps so one of our resident techies will have to explain that.

So Biden is cutting off U. S. gasoline purchases from Russia. The U.S. reportedly only imports a tiny percentage of our gas from Russia, but this will undoubtedly cause even bigger raises in the cost of filling up.

Biden announces ban on Russian oil imports, other energy products (msn.com)

Well off people may complain, but they will be able to afford the extra $10 or $20 to fill up. We need to help out the little guy, though, and I think a substantial tax credit for those earning under a certain amount might be one way of easing the burden. If necessary for fiscal solvency, we might consider an extra percent or two tax rate on the well off to balance things out. I'm not an economist, though, so I really have no idea what solutions would be financially advisable.

Biden noted that some allies may not be in a position to go cold turkey on Russian oil, and it is clear that our dependency on Russian oil is much less than Europe's. In any case, cutting off any possible source of cash for Russia's war machine is the right thing to do, even if it stings a little.

Of course, our sacrifices will always pale in comparison to the sacrifices made by the ordinary American during WWII:

"The OPA rationed automobiles, tires, gasoline, fuel oil, coal, firewood, nylon, silk, and shoes. Americans used their ration cards and stamps to take their meager share of household staples including meat, dairy, coffee, dried fruits, jams, jellies, lard, shortening, and oils.

Americans learned, as they did during the Great Depression, to do without. Sacrificing certain items during the war became the norm for most Americans. It was considered a common good for the war effort, and it affected every American household."

Sacrificing for the Common Good: Rationing in WWII (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)

As it should. We were actively fighting a war FFS. I don't see the need for this comparison. Apples and oranges

It’s gonna hit the building market hard too. Already went way up With the lumber issue. Average new house here went up $20-30k from that. Now you have items that are made with petroleum, roofing shingles etc.
I’m really curious how it’s gonna affect my area. The building going on here is insane, and the recent increase did not slow it. I can’t even explain the amount of development.

YEP. The county where I live is now the 8th fastest growing county in the country .... except prices went up like 100G

Last year I had plans to build a good-sized shed during covid lockdowns... then lumber went nutso.
Then shit started to get back to normal..... and now it's nutso again. I may just deal with a cramped garage workshop for awhile

Everything always goes 3 steps up, then one step down too.
I’m putting up fencing in my yard…. Got a quote for vinyl and it was $2800. Had to wait nearly a year , while a joined the hoa board, and got vinyl approved by vote. That same quote a year later… $5400. I settled on a company that will do it for $4100. But damn.

If it's not done yet, pass on the vinyl.... over priced and the first ones to blow down in a storm ;)

Do pressure treated with horizontal running planks... then let jasmine / ivy grow over them

I would love that, but after the storm I created in this neighborhood to get vinyl approved… lol. We’re also not allowed to to the horizontal , or let ivy grow on it.
