They really need to do s combine update. If anyone gets Walker in round three they win the offseason.

Here's a no-trade, post-combine mock using the NFL Mock Draft Database Simulator. It was hard for me not to be influenced by the Combine results!

    This one is just criminal:

    30 Devin Lloyd LB Utah

    35 Lewis Cine S Georgia
    38 Trent McDuffie CB Washington
43 Kingsley Enagbare EDGE South Carolina
    50 Drake Jackson EDGE USC
    52 Christian Harris LB Alabama
57 Breece Hall RB Iowa State

    84 Logan Hall DT Houston
89 Bernhard Raimann OT Central Michigan
90 Skyy Moore WR Western Michigan

    2023 CLE 2nd
    2023 TEN 2nd
    2023 WAS 2nd

You DO understand that there's another side of the ball besides defense?

Yes, it's "criminal" because someone is likely to shoot Douglas if he ever did something like this.:p

You do realize there is such a thing as free agency.

Also, I added a running back, a receiver, and an offensive tackle in this draft.

    What else do you want?

It was a typical SOJ draft: heavy on "D" at the top, "O" almost an afterthought.

As for FA, who were you adding in that scenario, you didn't specify? And just because you say you would add them doesn't mean that would happen. The Jets have not fared well in FA for a long time for me to give anyone the benefit of the doubt on that.

We have tons of cap space. If JD doesn't get a top flight receiver and interior lineman he is in the wrong line of work.

as much as I love seeing these. I like the more realistic ones more. anyone can game the simulator. one that has 0-1 trades would be best.

what top flight WR? there is literally nobody. maybe cooper becomes a FA but he'd be the only one and even then he has his red flags and the market would be hot for him. other then that the top guys left are like chark and kirk

There are no "top flight" WRs that are likely to wind up on the Jets. There's a decent chance - but less than 50-50 - of JD signing a top IOL. Sorry, if Douglas produced the draft you listed I'd probably be done because it would mean a reversion to the SOJ "Defense wins championships!" (bit with no actual championships to support that belief) way of doing business.

I believe in several draft philosophies:

    1. Draft the best players on the best teams. Top 10 teams if you can, but Power 5 at a minimum, and
    2. Never trade up, unless it's for a QB, and
    3. If there's a couple players available that you kinda-sorta like when it's your turn to pick, trade back because ...
    4. It's all basically luck, so the more picks you have, the better your chances of lucking-into a starter.

So I basically traded back and back and back and got who I wanted anyway.

    Round 1 - Pick 4 - Ikem Ekwonu, OT - NC State
    Round 1 - Pick 18 - Nakobe Dean - LB - Georgia
    Round 1 - Pick 21 - Jordan Davis - DT - Georgia
    Round 2 - Pick 43 - Christian Harris - LB - Alabama
    Round 3 - Pick 70 - Jamaree Slayer - OG - Georgia
    Round 3 - Pick 78 - Kerby Joseph - S - Illinois
    Round 3 - Pick 79 - John Metchie - WR - Alabama
    Round 3 - Pick 84 - Dameon Pierce - RB - Florida
    Round 3 - Pick 85 - Josh Paschal - DE - Kentucky
    Round 3 - Pick 97 - Derion Kendrick - CB - Georgia
    Round 3 - Pick 98 - Dohnovan West - C - Arizona State
    Round 4 - Pick 108 - Coby Bryant - CB - Cincinnati
    Round 4 - Pick 116 - Josh Jobe - CB - Alabama
    Round 4 - Pick 138 - Luke Goedeke - OT - Central Michigan
    Round 5 - Pick 145 - Luke Fortner - C - Kentucky
    Round 5 - Pick 155 - Justin Shaffer - OG - Georgia
    Round 5 - Pick 161 - Derrick Deese - TE - San Jose State
    Round 6 - Pick 182 - DJ Dale - DT - Alabama
    Round 6 - Pick 190 - Matt Ariza - P - San Diego State
    Round 6 - Pick 204 - Kevin Austin - WR - Notre Dame
    Round 6 - Pick 207 - Malachi Carter - WR - Georgia Tech
    Round 7 - Pick 218 - Kalon Barnes - CB - Baylor
    Round 7 - Pick 221 - Jordan Stout - K - Penn State
    Round 7 - Pick 226 - Abram Smith - RB - Baylor
    Round 7 - Pick 227 - Jack Coan - QB - Notre Dame
    Round 7 - Pick 228 - Cameron Latu - TE - Alabama
    Round 7 - Pick 237 - Andrew Stueber - OT - Michigan

    Future 2023 Picks:

    Round 3 - Steelers
    Round 4 - Jaguars
    Round 4 - Eagles
    Round 4 - Redskins
    Round 5 - Seahawks
    Round 5 - Seahawks (2nd)
    Round 5 - Eagles
    Round 5 - Redskins
    Round 5 - Browns
    Round 6 - Seahawks
    Round 6 - Eagles
    Round 6 - Colts
    Round 6 - Patriots
    Round 6 - Ravens
    Round 7 - Steelers
    Round 7 - Eagles
    Round 7 - Giants
    Round 7 - Giants (2nd)
    Round 7 - Browns

So that's eleven picks in the first three rounds. If those eleven make the roster, you've rebuilt the team overnight. A couple more players stick, and you can make so many cuts that you have a ton of cap space going forward. I accumulated nineteen additional picks for next year because, why not? In almost every instance, I was able to draft who I wanted anyway even though I traded back. In at least one way, the emulator is flawed because it will almost always let you trade back one or two spots and accumulate an additional 7th round pick or a pick in next year's draft.

    A couple of thoughts:

    1. Dameon Pierce and Abram Smith were the two best running backs at the Senior Bowl.
    2. Ikem Ekwonu vs. Evan Neal was a coin flip, but Ekwonu can play guard supposedly. I would have took Thibodeaux if he was available.
    3. Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis and Jamaree Slayer were three of the national champion's four captains. Dean and Davis were the two best players on the field in the national title game.
    4. Coby Bryant won the Jim Thorpe Award as best DB in the country.
    5. Kalon Barnes was the fastest player at the Combine.
    6. A few players that I really like that I missed out on by trading back - Sam Williams, Lewis Cine, Jalen Pitre, Perrion Winfrey
    7. Yes, I know Latu is not actually in the draft (there was literally nobody else left to draft at that point).

Chad Muna or Christian Harris would have been available, Dean and Llyod had gone.

they havent updated their rankings for sure. walker is now 1st round guarenteed. probably top 15 maybe even top 10. i've seen him mocked as high as 3 to the texans

one thing I will say about this class is ranking are all over the place. which tells me that there is a lot of value in later rounds and not a lot elite top end. i'm hopinh we trade down form 10, I really don't like anyone at 10 unless somehow we get KT at 4 and hamilton falls to 10 but I don't se him falling that far.
