CBS says Saquan Barkley is available in trade. At least Joe Schoen claims he's going to listen to offers for Barkley. I read some (i can't remember where?) general consensus that due to Barkley's injury history he's worth about a 4th rounder.

Would you trade a 4th for him?

Let me tell you i wouldn't hesitate. I still think he's got a lot left in his tank. He was stuck and held up behind a trash OL. I was kind of thinking JD would spend a 4th or 5th on a RB anyway? This is to say nothing about how Barkley and his old man are die hard Jets fans. If he's available for a 4th that's a trade I'm making. I believe with the Jets he'd be stepping into a much better situation.....

For a 4th? Yes, I would absolutely. I doubt the Giants let him go for that though.

I wouldn’t trade for him even for a 5th rounder. It isn’t about the pick itself. He is often injured, low to mid production compared to money hill ask for. Nope. Pass.

I like Barkley and do think the Jets need a big back to compliment Carter, however, Barkley's injury history is a concern. Jets don't need any more players going on IR. I would pass.

I'd take a RB who can complement Carter on day 2 or 3 instead.

Of course. He wouldn’t be used as a workhorse so the injury history doesn’t bother me.

Agree. He's very talented. Not sure you can get a RB in the 4th that would be better.

The two concerns I have are injury history and what it would cost to keep him going forward.

His rookie numbers are insane. His second year was not as good but he still rushed for 1,000 yards in 13 games. 2020 was washed out and last year was his worst. But for a 4th? I'd do it and if he retired to 2018 form he would be a huge weapon.

You’d take Connor for $6mm but not Barkley for $7mm?

I’d take him for a 4th all day

This hypothetical is really not possible because the Giants won't trade him here.
    I'd do it maybe for a 5th

You'd take Amari Cooper for a 3rd or a 4th but not Barkley for a 4th? I get the concerns about injury, but there's been no questioning his work ethic. And he grew up rooting for the Jets. IDT the Giants give him up for that, but if they did, I'd bite. He has the potential to be like McCaffrey IMO.

The Giants would never trade him to the Jets. What if he returns to form and runs for 1500 yards? The Giants would never live it down. The two teams will do business deals together - the stadium as an example. A trade of that magnitude? The hate is too deep particularly from Mara. He hates the Jets.

    Hard pass.

Too expensive and I think he’s overrated. For a guy as big and strong as he is, he runs like he’s scared of contact.

He’s physically and psychologically damaged from his injury and hasn’t truly recovered yet. He may never recover.

Plus a draft pick, 1 year rental, for a player who has been consistently injured

Cooper has cracked 1K yards 5 of 7 seasons. He is proven, largely healthy, plays a far more valuable position, and has 3 years of contract control.

Barkley has missed a lot of time, plays a less valuable position, and has only 1 year of contract control. He didn’t look good even when he did play last year

I think the difference is on their character (full disclosure I haven’t meant either). This will be the 2nd team that let Cooper go. There has to be something behind it.

I’m indifferent to Barkley but def anti Cooper.

He is the prime reason to NEVER take a RB with a top draft pick.
