I know you understand this so I’m not lecturing you here, but you could make the argument that if Geronimo had access to social media the USA would’ve never expanded beyond the Mississippi. Doesn’t change things in Ukraine though.
I'm beginning to get the feeling that Putin doesn't have time for a long occupation. I'm not sure what the inflection point will be but I think his hand is likely to be forced within months.
I'm not ignoring the Ukrainian struggle for democracy... in fact I applaud it... but ignoring the events that led up to this criminal and catastrophic invasion serves no purpose whatsoever. Fact is... in 2014 we pulled off a coup of a democratically elected foreign government and installed actors that would push our agenda. We then continually pushed for conflict with Russian separatists in the Donbas region and supplied weaponry. John McCain, Amy Klobuchar ( ) and Lindsey Graham were there... encouraging Ukrainian forces to fight against Russia. "The United States aids Ukraine and her people, so that we can fight Russia over there, and we don’t have to fight Russia here." - Adam Schiff Peace agreements were violated as Russian speaking Ukrainians were being killed and maimed in eastern Ukraine. Every foreign relations expert worth his salt warned against pushing NATO further toward Russia's border... and that doing so would result in exactly what has transpired. Refusal to handle this diplomatically and concede to even some Russia demands has gotten us to the brink of an all out war with a nuclear power. Nice. It's not a theory... nor does it excuse what Putin is doing in response... which is getting more abhorrent by the minute. Some predict this will force Russia to a closer alliance with China... both economically and militarily... not good. Now the people of Ukraine are being hung out to dry... yet another foreign policy disaster by the same neo-cons that brought us the Iraq & Afghanistan wars. Of course a Clinton can be found at the core of it... I'm gonna ease off this thread... the willingness to debate has been superseded by ad hominem attacks on myself and anyone who dares look beyond the prescribed narrative.
Bitcoin and the other cyber currencies are going to take a major hit as the world unites in making them more transparent to enforce sanctions. China, who might have gone against that trend, has already slammed cyber-currencies and so for once we will actually have all the major players (except Russia) looking hard at transactions.
Why should anyone have to cower to Russias demands on soil that is not Russia? It seems the people of Ukraine are happy to fight for what they have now.
Nearly 60 years ago. I get your point but it is not relevant to today's situation. The relevant comparison is Iraq and basically everybody understands at this point that the invasion of Iraq was an enormous mistake bordering on actionable criminality. However Saddam's Iraq had rolled into Kuwait just a dozen years prior to the invasion of Iraq and the world threw him back out again. The situation that Ukraine is really relatable too is Saddam's invasion of Kuwait. Same process of rolling over an international border to reclaim areas historically controlled by the aggressor. It's about the same period of time since Ukraine was separated from Russia and Kuwait was separated from Iraq. 70-80 years.
It's already happening. The Treasury Dept has had an initiative to identify crypto transactions and account balances since late 2020. It's kicking into high gear now as a result of the need to identify sanctions-breaking transactions. The Chinese outlawed crypto last year. Watch the investment banks closely. When they start to close down their funds or significantly alter reporting on them it will be a clear signal that the crypto bubble is bursting.
Legislation is expected, that's not going to kill crypto. China has outlawed crypto I think three times so far. Shitcoin may go away to an extent, but I will get you 1 Bitcoin you'll never see crypto totally dead. Outside of the tech, you have billionaire individuals and corps with heavy crypto portfolios. Government may not care about us, but they aren't making crypto worthless with investment from people with billions. Not to mention there are many more countries that are embracing crypto more then outlawing it. My last comment as to not redirect the thread.
Too long didn't read. Maybe don't say both sides when one side is invading the other, kinda ruins any credibility you have when you see nato membership as equal to an invasion.
I was watching Fox News this morning, they were discussing the Ukraine war and it was pretty wild. -One pundit was criticizing Biden saying the sanctions are not enough. -The other was criticizing Biden saying sanctions on Japan lead to WWII and he’s being reckless. -They both agreed on one point though that “the media” is the problem despite them both being media pundits on Americas top news media network. Just wild
No offense, but you have been saying this for years now about the bubble bursting, almost 8+ now I believe. Crypto has gone through multiple 85%+ corrections since then. Bitcoin has corrected 50%+ twice in the last year alone. Do I believe there is a chance the governments pursue crypto and it crashes even more? Yeah of course. You can't stop it though without shutting off the internet. If the governments shut off the internet, the governments themselves probably couldn't even operate so it would be a killswitch on themsevles. Bitcoin still wouldn't even die in that circumstance, the network would still be running somewhere. Not sure why you are so anti-crypto anyway. Bitcoin isn't even good for criminal activity, thats pretty much known now. Also a lot of US politicians and large financial institutions own crypto so its becoming more and more difficult. A year ago only a few politicians even owned, now there are dozens on both sides of the spectrum. Millions of dollars have been sent into Ukraine through multiple crypto networks. It also allows people to flee countries like Ukraine or Russia and NOT have to worry about what will happen to your money.
Say what you want too, the sanctions placed on Ukraine might trigger the collapse of the global markets. It might possibly completely backfire on the US and Euro countries. The people who suffer from the sanctions, aren't the wealthy, its the people at the bottom who probably don't want this war. The economy isn't healthy to begin with, raging inflation has taken place in the USA for the past year if people haven't noticed. A small pin can send this whole thing down. The FED is trying to raise rates this month to slow inflation, but it might not matter jf a financial crisis begins. Be careful what you wish for, a financial crisis in the United States will be devastating for the majority of the people.
