I guess I know a different quality of fans.

No one I know is begging to sign their back up TE after 1 good season.

Well you are better than all of us so it makes sense that you have smarter friends too.

Getting a WR with Cooper's ability almost transforms the draft calculus, and therefore almost worth whatever it costs - within reason - to get him. It would mean being able to look for a WR on Day 2 or even 3 possibly, and open up that formerly prime pick for some other (now) greater need.

I don't necessarily think that getting Cooper would mean it solves the problem for years, but he would certainly upgrade the receiving corps significantly for next year at least, and give the Jets some time to find that "superstar" WR over the next couple of years.

    Very good point.

If we do sign Cooper, which of the 5 games on next years schedule do you hope he shows up for?

We already have the option of taking a Wr day two. And so far , after the combine, I’m starting to think we’d be nuts to take a WR with the 10 because it’s a deep WR draft.

Yes, of course we already have the option. Just like we have the "option" of taking a WR with out 5th or Nth pick. Adding a #1 type WR before the draft though means we wouldn't have to use #4 or #10 on a WR (not that any WRs I've seen so far are worth the #4 for sure).

And yes, it's a deep WR class, so even if Douglas chooses to not sign any #1 type WRs in FA, he can grab a couple of really good ones most likely in the draft. That said, drafted players are always a crap shoot. If you can get a proven player at a price you're willing to pay before the draft it gives much more flexibility.

If this is true and the browns or any team land Cooper for a third, lit alone a fourth then we have to seriously turn the heat up on Joe Douglas‘s seat

if you are serious about developing your young quarterback and you have an opportunity to get a top-tier receiver at 27 Who will most likely restructure or sign a new deal for the price of a third or fourth round pick then you do it.

the chances of getting a WR as good as cooper with our 3rd round pick is pretty slim. and we can easily get a 3rd rounder back by trading down with one of our top 4 picks. some people will just never see that though

Some people think way too hard about things. Perennial 1k hard guy, 8 TD in two of the last three seasons. 7 or more in four of the last 5. It’s just a no brainer for a third rounder.

I’m sure no one wanted Brandon Marshall either.

I've been leaning against going after Cooper because of the talk about his work ethic and giving up, but for a 3rd, even better a 4th, I'd have to say Yes.

To begin with, I doubt that anyone will get him for only a 4th or 3rd. Secondly, JD may already have a deal in the works with Seattle for Metcalf or AROB may have already agreed to a deal with the Jets. I'd rather have either than Cooper. For that matter, I think I'd rather have DJ Chark than Cooper. I've never cared for Cooper and always thought he has been overrated, especially since he has a proclivity for disappearing in games and for multiple game stretches of the season.

remember when people thought moss was done and raiders gave him away for a 4th and then he set the TD record lol
sometimes a change in scenery can do wonders. people tend to forget NFL players are still humans and not machines

A change of scenery didn’t do wonders for Cooper the first time a team didn’t want him, not sure why it would be different this time.

Cooper for pick #69. Tell the boys take it or leave it and move on.

He was a 1000 yard receiver the first go around, changed scenery and was a 1000 yard receiver again. He didn’t need a change of scenery, he was top tier in both places. Very bizarre that people don’t want to give up a third for a guy who will most likely be top tier for us as well.

Our third rounder is pretty much a second rounder.

Also, Cowboys might have to cut him due to their cap situation.

I don’t like his inconsistency, his stats are bipolar - when he goes off the goes tf off but when he doesn’t, he completely disappears.

I don’t think it’s a good use of our resources, I’d rather have ARob and our 3rd/4th or a WR at #10 and our 3rd/4th

I’m not convinced Moore isn’t our #1 and could just get another #2 or a solid #3

Whatever JD does, I will get behind and spill my beer on the guy in the row in front of me when Cooper has a big play.
