Surprising the Ukrainians did not blow up some bridges to isolate the convoy in the middle of nowhere before it could get near Kyiv.

Take the Trump rant and stuff it, Grandpa. That's not what this thread is about.

Rumours (to take with grain of salt) but many Russian troops are deserting as they were lead to believe that they would only be doing training exercise for 3 days and now they are in full blown war with little to no communication and very few supplies.

Do we know the talking to China wasn't a calculated move knowing they would go straight to Russia? Intelligence is one area that seemed to be working pretty good knowing what was happening and releasing that information.

I think releasing this information was very important in having NATO and other nations on the same page from the get go which helped them make moves quicker.

We've seen many times where NATO has taken forever to come up with weak moves that accomplish near nothing. No doubt they would have come together on this but would it have been this quick.

On BBC News they read a letter from a Russian soldier to his mother, he pretty much said the same. They were told they would be welcomed with open arms but now they are out of food, ammo, gas, etc. He was killed before he sent it off.

    Of course could be propaganda.

Who denied that "Russia has recent history of taking land from other nations"?
    Oh... you made that up.

And point to where I showed support for Putin or his actions. Good luck.

Seems like you're the one who doesn't understand that imperialism isn't defined by a land grab.

And by all means keep up the insults... it's quite amusing to watch you debase yourself.

this is the dumbass post he is responding to. It might as well been written by Putin himself:

    --

"All this anti-Russia pro-Ukraine enthusiasm needs to be tempered by a deeper understanding of the U.S. role in Ukrainian politics.

As usual... we have our dirty little paw prints all over this situation.

Russia is not the only evil imperialist regime involved here..."

Interesting analysis on the Russian aggression against Ukraine from John Bolton, who saw and worked with Trump regularly face to face on foreign affairs: "It's just not accurate to say that Trump's behavior deterred the Russians. I think the evidence is that Russia didn't feel that their military was ready."

See and hear the Bolton remarks with your own eyes and ears:

John Bolton Claims Trump Did Little to Deter Putin: ‘Barely Knew Where Ukraine Was’ (yahoo.com)

Jason Campbell on Twitter: "John Bolton pushes back on Newsmax host: "[Trump] barely knew where Ukraine was...It's just not accurate to say that Trump's behavior somehow deterred the Russians" https://t.co/ICRmmeJ8C3" / Twitter

Bolton reports that Trump even complained that the sanctions against Russia that were imposed by American bureaucrats during his administration were too tough on Russia.

Bolton's testimony sure puts a damper on the theory that Ukraine wasn't attacked under Trump because he was too tough or too crazy for the Russians.

You might complain that Bolton doesn't like Trump, but you know what, Bolton was there and you weren't. Also, Bolton's reports fit in with other known facts about Trump's lack of eagerness to give Ukraine the military aid ordered by Congress:

Trump claim on stalled aid for Ukraine draws new scrutiny (militarytimes.com)

I skipped over nothing. I doubt Nagle did either. I have not found a reason to be any less "anti-Russia" or "pro-Ukraine" in current events. And I have known very well what imperialism is for over fifty years; I don't need anyone to tell me what it is, particularly someone whose education has been derived from social media and informed by "influencers."

Well, they are definitely not welcomed with open arms. There are more than enough people in the capital who are prepared to fight to the death. It will be Grozny 2.0 if they do a full scale assault on Kiev. The difference is that Kiev is almost 3 times the size of Grozny and its population is 10 times of Grozny. Most of the Western Ukraine has hated Russians for generations, now they will have most of the entire Ukraine hating them. It's difficult to understand what Putin's endgame is. If they do occupy the entire country and install their puppet government, there will be guerilla warfare for years and years.

Seeing two women standing together in positions of great power and responsibility shows how far we've progressed as a country.
