Honestly I don't think AH or KT will be available so I'm all for trading back or taking Ikey as insurance for LT and if Mekhi shows up we have a stud RG and eventually a replacement for Fant. At 10 I'm fine with WR unless we can trade for Ridley or bring in Godwin/Robinson then Sauce is definitely on the table.

Luckily? Q’s 5th year option will be cheap(ish) as he’s yet to perform like we know he can and the only place we’re currently invested otherwise is LB and WR 3….. I don’t see salary as a problem… one of the many things we can disagree on. Lol

I do think Wilson needs to show MUCH more next season. Again, I get the excuses, and that stats aren’t always the best measure, but he can’t be THE WORST QB in the league again. He just can’t. If he plays like he did this year and puts up crap numbers again, then there will be very valid reasons to doubt. I’m not advocating cutting him after two years, but I would definitely be looking to find a new QB next offseason to compete.

we can make all the excuses we want, but he has to show improvement.

that being said, while I’m not as high on him as some others who are so confident he can do it, I do think he just very well MAY do it. I’m kind of in a show me mode, and I’ll believe it when I see it, but I’m not so certain he will. It’s not too often that QBs go from worst in the league stats to a true franchise QB…I’ll admit our OL and receivers were shaky at best, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt to an extent, but he needs to take a massive step next year.

and yeah, fully agree on the pash rush. The only defensive player I would want at 4 overall is an edge rusher. If the top guys are gone by pick 4, I’d rather go offense with an OL most likely, or trade back. I’d rather not take Hamilton at 4…not because we don’t need help at safety or I don’t like the player, I just think I’d rather have OL or pass rush there

Becton…yeah, he needs to stay healthy and show up like he actually gives a shit or I’d move him too

    I'll agree with 1, 2, and 4 outright.

3 is different because while we do need help at edge, there's opportunity cost to investing more into the DL and I think we have more pressing needs elsewhere on defense.

ya but you're ignoring the big IF.

IF he's just as bad in yr2 as in yr1 he needs to go. So you're OK going into yr3 with a QB who was worse in the league 2 yrs in a row????????

IF...IF...Zach is as bad this year as last, no I wouldn't be comfortable going into Year 3 without good backup plan, but that doesn't mean Zach should definitely be replaced at that point. I could envision some kind of "QB competition", but I'm not sure what that would look like - a newly drafted rookie trying to unseat Zach; a vet? IDK. But I don't believe Zach will be automatically replaced in any case.

More than that, I'll be shocked if he doesn't do a lot better this next season.

Why is everyone dumping on Becton? The guy was injured and people want to throw him in the trash. Lawson hasn't even suited up for the Jets and people are gaga over him. I'm starting to see what the issue is and it's Saleh. Becton, Mims, Maye were all better before he came onboard. If this guy is so rigid and anal in his dealings with players on his team I say he's the problem and if it happens this year he needs to be gone by 2023.

Hey boozer. I don’t know about others but my gripe with Becton is the vibe I am getting from him about his lack of respect to his profession by not keeping his weight under control.

Saleh might be a problem as well but not liking your boss shouldn’t lead to a bad performance imo.

Because Becton was getting lit up all through training camp, not just by Lawson but by rushers on other teams we did joint practices with. Becton's also continued to have weight issues leading to his long absence. His injury was a 6-8 week injury and by all accounts caused him to miss 16+ weeks due to weight gain that delayed his rehab.

Getting hurt is one thing, missing twice as much time as you should because you can't put down the fork is another.

The shape Becton shows up for training camp in will tell us all we need to know.

Grossly overweight in the 390-400 pound range and still hobbling around

    -or-

Nicely slimmed down to the 340-350 pound range and in great shape, both weight wise and cardio wise

I'm holding out hope for the Slim Shady version of our big man. I'll weight (haha) until TC to make my final decision on this young, talented man.

For god's sake I pray he doesn't eat himself out of the NFL. My money is on the Becton we all hope for and wish for. We'll see soon enough!

Lean, mean, agile and mobile at 365 would be just fine for me.

    1) you gotta give him 3 years. zach will be here in 2023 no matter what

    2) becton didn't even play in 2021 really. he played 48 snaps.

    3) agreed

    4) almost agreed. RB we only need a 1B to carters 1A. we do need a WR and TE though

Some of us said the same thing about Sam.

If Zach has a repeat of last year his starting job is not assured.

Sam looked really good down the stretch in his second year.

If Wilson doesn't show us anything for two years in a row we might want to bring in a veteran to compete.

That is if Mike White doesn't steal the job first.

based on what then? sure the stats didn't look great, but he ran the offense well. wasn't his fauly he was missing his top 4 WRs and like 3 or 4 lineman and his top 2 RBs. he protected the ball, didn't throw any INTs, didn't make any mistakes, played smart, took what the defense gave him.
