now Kyler is pitching a fit and Twitterverse is calling for Klingsburys head...

how you blame the HC for that BONEHEAD pick 6 in the PO's is beyond me...

No way. If it’s proven, he’d be guilty of damaging the reputation of the league. No way in hell he keeps the team if it’s proven true.

I wonder if the reports about McVay stepping down are true.

Flores to the Steelers… as a senior defensive assistant/linebackers coach.

There was a moment this offseason where I thought the Steelers might move on from Tomlin and hire Flores as HC.

However they decided to change GM's first and they rarely do both in the same season. Also they gave Tomlin a 4 year extension last year to age 52. Somewhat un-Steelers-like to extend to that age but once they did that moving on from him this year became much less likely.

Flores as heir-apparent in a season becomes an interesting option if the move from Big Ben to what's next becomes dicey.

It’s difficult to identify any trends with the Steelers as they’ve had so few head coaches. But if this trend exists, you’re not adjusting for age inflation and life expectancy. People are living better into older ages.

This is a very good point.

However the Steelers decided to start doing this with Bill Cowher not because he was old but because they thought that HC's tend to wear out after a certain period of time. They felt it it was good for the organization to refresh and get a new perspective while maintaining identity.

Tomlin has been HC about as long as Cowher was and is about the same age.

It would have been in character for the Steelers to replace him this year. However they apparently made the choice last year to let him get the new QB first.

I wonder if they'll be patient when it comes to getting their next QB. Their OL is a work in progress and there are a bunch of flawed QB's in this year's draft.

Tomlin is on record as wanting a mobile QB.

I'm wondering if the Steelers could make a move for Kyler Murray or alternately take one of the more mobile QB's in this draft. They look at small colleges differently than other teams - seeing the opportunity to mold a QB in the image they want.

The difference is that Cowher went through a slew of quarterbacks before they ended up with Roethlisberger and only had him for a couple years. So it was clear that defense and ball control/running game was what he knew best and how he intended to win and I think the Steelers recognized this wasn’t the future of the league. He had plenty of opportunities to try to develop a QB and it didn’t happen (even if they weren’t going to be good NFL quarterbacks anyways).

They might be interested to see if Tomlin can seamlessly transition into the next era of Steelers football with a new QB prospect without having one handed to him.

I heard some speculation on the radio this morning that having Flores on staff will make the Steelers more of an attractive destination for Watson.

That mobile QB could come in the 2023 draft. They can roll with a hold the fort QB in 2022 while the OL gets built up and have the new guy be in a similar situation as Ben was in 2004.

Steelers got a steal, pun intended. If Woody Johnson wasn't such a clown and/or Saleh wasn't such a "buddy" guy, we could have Flores here running our defense. He's certainly more qualified and capable than Jeff Ulbrich.

What makes you think Flores would want to work for the Jets and Saleh over the Steelers and Tomlin?

Of course he wouldn't. The Jets suck and the Steelers dont

Exactly, which is why your post made no sense. Carry on.
