so you bring up the one good year he had he’s been in the league 4 years now I believe lmao. His record in the other years let’s wait for 6-7, 6-10, 6-8 for a career record of under .500 29-30 overall. Looks like you’re the only one embarrassing yourself asking for the Jets to bring in a career loser and backup QB at best
I really thought it was Aprils fools but it’s too early he was really being serious. I can’t stop laughing hahahaha
Why stop at Wilson and Darnold. Could apply to Ken O'Brien, Boomer Esiason, Neil O'Donnell, Ray Lucas, Rick Meier, and Brett Farve.
Brad is a long time respected poster on this board and the fact that he didn't get completely ripped for the Mayfield comment just furthers that point. Anyone else makes that suggestion and they get absolutely shredded.
That's the only good part about having a QB on a rookie contract that sucks. You don't have to keep throwing him out there and losing anymore. You can afford to bring in someone else. I really wish the Jets organization was better at these decisions
We have no idea if Sam felt he was 'good enough' and took the off-seasons, well, off. He coulda worked his ass off for all we know. In fact, he probably did. Just didn't help!
There's something to be said for that....Matt Stafford fans who blamed his poor play on coaching, ownership, & teammates for 12 consecutive years were spot on!
Dude, the Browns were 0-16 the year they drafted Mayfield. I'd take him in a minute over anybody else the Jets might bring in - maybe excepting Derek Carr if he became available. Some guys have true grit and Mayfield is one of those guys and whoever QB's the Jets is going to need that quality.
Didn't you say Zach was too short and now you are talking Mayfield and Jimmy G who Zach is taller than both of them.
Well Idk about all that but I do know that Mayfield and Garoppolo don’t have to run backwards 10-15 yards like an idiot like Wilson does
A for effort but you clearly haven't watched Mayfield play. The Brown have the best RB combo in the NFL. They have very good wide receivers in Landry and Peoples Jones (and let's not forget OBJ forced his way off the team because Mayfield sucks.) They also have a top 5 defense. What they don't have is a good QB. So you want to trade draft picks to bring in a guy that can't get a team with a great defense and a great running game to the playoffs? He's holds that team back. You really can't be serious.
Let’s cut him some slack, maybe he doesn’t watch the game of football and he’s just throwing this out based off namesake lol that’s all I can hope at this point. I’ve heard some idiotic things on this board, but the idea of trading for a QB with little or no upside and has shown that he’s a career journeyman with a losing record on stacked teams, while also picking up his option to pay him like he’s a top 10 Qb is by far at the top of the list. I got a good laugh from this I really did! Maybe he will want Jamarcus Russell or Johnny Football next week lol
I’ve watched him play some, not every game of course, but does he run backwards like an idiot like Zach Wilson or not?
If you watched him play maybe you could answer your own question lol. You want the same guy who took 9 sacks vs Pitt and I remember 5 against the bears and is 4 years deep in the league over the guy who just drafted last year and was a rookie learning and came back from an injury improved. But Baker would do good here because he’s shown what? Over Wilson who even at this point has a much higher ceiling and cost efficient. You would never be a good GM my guy never!
Hm okay, doesn’t really answer my question. Taking 9 sacks once in his life against Pittsburgh could, but even if I take your word for it, he also beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs once
I seen every quarterback in a league run backwards at some point and take a sack. I'm not sure what your point is. Mayfield just finished his fourth year in the league while Wilson just finished his first. So tell me what picks are you trading for this dynamo named Baker Mayfield. Seems like you're going to die on this hill so let's at least make it as comical as it can get.
Yes, but it's more than that. I believe with every fiber of my being that he is going to be our FQB for the next 10-15+ (?) years. I'm betting my fanhood on it. I've been rooting for this team since 1964. If Zach doesn't prove to be the Jets FQB, I'm done with this team, and really the NFL. Life is too short. I have other interests and other things I can do with my time.
