Sure… but then we wouldn’t have all the extra picks anymore, would we?

Sam played better the 2nd half of his 1st year.

But while Josh Allen decided to focus his off-season on being the best QB he can be, Sam decided he was good enough.

It’s been reported that ZW studied Burrow and used him as inspiration to improve his game. If ZW takes that next step and uses Burrow’s success as further inspiration to improve, we'll be in good shape. If he doesn’t, we won’t.

The point is the excuses were still being made after 3 years of awful play from Sam. If Wilson has another bad year next year it will be more than fair to have serious doubts about whether he's the guy for us. It's semi-fair already but 1 year is just too small a sample size to draw any legitimate conclusions.

AR is about to get $40mm/yr. We currently have $40mm in cap space.

Trading for Rodgers is a Mac move, 100%, never fully committed to a rebuild.

No one can build a strong foundation using older decaying parts.

Old parts are used for finishing touches ala Manning and Stafford.

Maybe a Jets fan a long time ago but certainly not today.

I’d hate to be one of his kids, probably have heard nothing but what they do wrong their entire life.

    Dad, I got into college.

Meh, you won’t study hard enough and drop out eventually.

No dad, I got a scholarship!!! I’m doing this.

A hardship scholarship? God knows it wasn’t for your brain…. But you know I’m a fan, right?

    Um… yeah.. sure dad.

Did he? He worked on his mechanics with Palmer. It never really translated to the games, but he wasn't complacent.

I think Brad is logical. This franchise has been bad for so long that it's perfectly fair to have a "I'll believe it when I see it" mindset. Could argue that's the only logical mindset to have with the Jets.

I think he's a bit too down on Wilson but I don't have a problem with his overall darksider views of the organization.

I think we’re developing a pattern of you being judgy and kinda a prude.

The point is, if you’re going to be a fan, act like it.

No one like someone who’s always negative. If you want to constantly talk shit about a team, go to the Patriots message board.

I’m down with I’ll believe it when I see it, but he takes it several steps past that.

Maybe you’re right. I remember hearing about how his mechanics were off but he didn’t want to change anything. I could be wrong.

Haha I’m one the being judgmental but you are the one trying to tell others how to be a fan. Not to mention extrapolating message board posts to a guy's personal life

Rooting for the Jets right now is a fool's errand.

It doesn't matter how much effort or intensity or passion you put in it they're going to disappoint you very early in the season.

If the Jets are going to trade for a starting QB they should make a move for one of the guys who won't cost an arm and a leg.

There are maybe a half dozen QB's out there where their team might well take the #10 pick for them and go look for a replacement.

Off the top of my head the list probably includes Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garoppolo, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield and maybe Derek Carr.

Of that group of players Garoppolo and Wentz are injury-prone so caution warranted there. Cousins is a bit on the old side and he'd probably let LaFleur and company install the offense but might not be around for the day the Jets are ready to make the push. Jalen Hurts is all upside at this point but it's not clear the Eagles would let him go, even for the #10 pick, and it's not clear he'd run the Lafleur offense well. Goff is what he is. If the Jets thought they could get something out of him in the Lafleur system they might make a move. Mayfield and Carr might be the best bets if the Jets are looking to trade for a guy to both build around and then win with in a couple of years.

I definitely remember this too, and Allen on the other hand completely reworked his throwing motion which led to his crazy jump in accuracy.

I don't know that there has ever been a QB who worked harder *after* his first two seasons to fix the problems and then became a topflight QB.

Ya gotta respect the hell out of Josh Allen for realizing things had to change if he wanted to make it in the NFL. Too bad Sam did not do that.

Sam BTW was told at the combine that he'd need to rework his mechanics to become a top passer and he told people he wasn't going to do that. Huge red flag there and the Jets either missed it or just didn't care.

Trade for Baker Mayfield now....hmmm. That's an interesting take.

If he was living up to the billing in Cleveland he'd never be available.

The situation he's in right now is like a Drew Brees in San Diego or Ryan Tannehill in Miami. It's obvious there is some talent there but things just have not come together for the team as a whole and he is some part of the problem.

He's headed into his 5th year option at $18.8M. He's probably negotiable at $25M a year or so - well below the QB cap.

The only thing I'd want to see out of him is a commitment to being QB of the Jets first and Baker Mayfield second. Wait on the big endorsement deals until he has proven out on the field then do whatever he wants.
