I think you have laid out a very good argument to support your position on Zach Wilson. It's far better than some of the other posts I've seen where they claim things like he's too short to see over the line or he is a rich spoiled brat. You have backed up your position with historical data and there's a decent chance you very well could be correct.

I read all of your posts. It's as clear as day that you are disgusted with the New York Jets organization. You are disgusted with the product on the field. New York Jets football does not bring one bit of joy to your life. That much is apparent.

The issue I have with your posts is that it seems that you are so angry with the Jets organization that you want everyone to be just as angry. You go out of your way to criticize the organization, the GM and Wilson every chance you get. Anyone who reads this forum even somewhat regularly knows your position and like I said previously, you back it with solid points and historical data. But it's come to the point where it's almost like you are trolling the fans that are trying to enjoy Jets football (as bad as it has been) and/or stay positive. That is, and always will be, my issue with your posts. I don't think you're an idiot or a "know nothing." You know your football and you know what you are trying to do with these posts.

Lastly, there is no way I believe your statement of "I hope I'm wrong." After all you've posted about the Jets organization and their selection of Wilson, if he turns out to be a FQB that leads them to the playoffs on a regular basis you will look like the biggest idiot to have ever posted on this forum. Yes, even bigger than me. No way you are hoping for that. Not a chance.

    I'm 61 years old.

I'd take a Super Bowl if Mickey Mouse was leading the team and if I'd called him just a mouse for years? Hey no problem.

It's just results we want plain and simple.

There's always going to be debate on if he's the "franchise" or whatever. I mean Flacco won a Superbowl MVP and he was still hotly contested among Baltimore fans. But Zach Wilson had the lowest QB rating among starters in the NFL. Dead last. There is no debate to be had when that happens. It's poor QB play

I'd be fine with that. I missed the last Super Bowl win by 1 year. I'm not planning to miss the next one by 1 year.

At the rate things are going if Zach doesn't win a Lombardi in the next year or two it isn't going to matter. I'm not riding out another regime with no confidence the problems have been fixed.

I'll stop watching the NFL if it comes to that and find a more productive way to use my Sundays. The Jets have been a waste in that regard for a long time, with a season or two here or there where they looked better than bad.

He may be near the bottom of the ladder, but it's the direction that's important. Hint: he's moving UP the ladder.

Well if there aren't a lot of injuries to the OL and key skill players, IOW, Zach has all the tools to succeed at his disposal and he struggles, then I'd be supportive of looking to bring in a capable vet QB to challenge him, and also looking to draft a new guy if possible.

I don't think that's going to happen, but if it does, I'm not going to argue that they should stick with Wilson no matter what. As I said, though I'll be shocked if that's the case.

Wait, you said you were 61 and missed it by a year? I'm 53 and so was 6 months old. And I fully expect to miss the next one by a year!

Yep. My first team was the Amazing Mets. Hard to miss even at 8 because their games were televised and mostly happened during the summer when I was out of school. That fall I watched the world series and then I went back to important pursuits, like Bugs Bunny, the Bowery Boys and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

Well, Darnold had the experience of playing against top college teams and thus, was better prepared for the NFL. He had a high floor, but it turns out his ceiling wasn't much higher than his high floor. With Zach, it's a lower floor and a bigger adjustment to NFL standards. Some of us think he has a higher ceiling than Darnold. Time will tell.

Darnold showed more flashes in his rookie year than Wilson. The problem is he was never consistently above average after that. In year 2, he had a few good games, but too many bad ones mixed in. Year 3 made it clear he wasn't our guy. And his time in Carolina showed he still has the same bad habits which were on display far too often with us.

If Zach doesn't take a major step forward in 2022(to middle of the pack), we'll likely be looking at a new QB in 2023.

Who is easier to fix? That's the hard question.

as good a thread as any, I guess... i dont like creating new ones

anyway... was glancing at an ESPN article about Chloe Kim...
and her own response to winning gold in Seoul

stood on the medal podium in Pyeongchang expecting a magic lightning strike as she fulfilled what many considered to be her destiny in her parents' home country. But the moment was overwhelmingly mundane.

So... 1994 when Rangers and Knicks were both in the finals I was all agog.
But when the horn blew and the Rangers had done it... it was NICE but...
not a whole lot more..........same for the Bosox who did it a (now) ridiculous 4 times
    in the last 20 years....

If the Jets ever get it done... you'll look back and kick yerself in the arse for all the anxiousness and nerves you experienced over this accursed franchise...

Zachs uninspiring play is not his fault entirely. The rest of the team was so gashed with injuries, Zach was throwing to new guys every week. I agree, his rookie year was more disappointing as compared to my expectations. I thought he'd look better than Darnold late in his rookie season, but Darnold looked better in 2018. Just the same, Zach did show a lot of improvement in three areas IMO:

    1) He got his accuracy back and stopped missing wide open receivers.
    2) He finally learned to take what the defense was giving him. He learned how to play boring football.
    3) He did not throw another interception.

Once again, i thought Zach was disappointing overall, but that doesn't mean it was all his fault.

I think he stank up the joint.

It's very possible there were no FQB's in the 2020 draft. This is something I said consistently in the draft process last year. I thought there was maybe a 50/50 chance we had a real FQB in the draft and most of that belonged to TLaw.

Kyler Murray in the news--I would trade Zach and picks for Murray in a heartbeat.
