Sure I could be wrong, but I don't see another team spending for him at those numbers based on the small stretch of games he excelled in for us.

If you don't understand the difference between what you do and a real conversation I can't help you.

Unless you repeat yourself to your mates all day long then that would be the same.

What you do goes around and around and around repeating what you have said over and over again

That isn't conversation in my eyes, converting maybe.

ever stop to think maybe you don't understand? i'm just having a conversation. hell literally last night me and max went on for 4 hours talking about football. If you take it the wrong way, then thats on you. What your doing is the online equivalent of asking your wife if she wants you to pick up food on the way home and her turning it around saying "what you don't like my cooking, what are you trying to say here"

That’s a valid point. However, most players/agents use comparables as a starting point in negotiations.

Also if he leaves and does well we get a comp pick so it’s not the end of the world loosing a 4th wr slash KR if he nets us a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Well one of us sure doesn't understand and it would never be you.

    It never ever is.

Good for you and Max but what has this got to do with you saying the same thing over and over again in this thread?

To use your feeble analogy it would be like asking my wife to cook bacon and eggs nine times on the trot and her saying 'no, I want sausages' in reply evereytime and on and on and on.

Berrios is a hard worker and did well within the system. He showed up and he stepped up. I’ve never once badmouthed BB.

    But I have to wonder:

Maybe this system is making battered Jets fans over valuate how talented he really is.

This is the same system that made Nick Mullens and Mike White look like stars.

Our special teams, as a whole, looked great this year.

Watching MiLF develop Thru the year and seeing how creative he got, I have to wonder,

Re BB: Could Adam Humphries have done the same?

We all want Braxton back but to forget this is a salary cap league is silly.

Let’s say we do decide to pay $9mm/yr to a #4 WR and return specialist, how many here would rather have Brax than JuJu?

My hope/prediction, if Brax signs for more than $7.2mm it’ll be somewhere else….

I would. I don't want Juju unless it's on a bargain basement deal. Berrios has proven to be a positive contributor on this team. I don't understand how everyone says football is the "ultimate team sport" (debatable, but I'll buy it for the sake of argument), and yet when we get guys who are great fits and contributors to the team they want to get rid of them to save a few bucks. Yeah, I know, there's a cap, but it's one thing to sign a guy from another team who you really don't know anything about and quite often wind up overpaying or not getting what you thought you were, and it's another to have a guy on your roster who has proven himself. I doubt he winds up getting $9M - if that's really what he's asking for - but if they have to overpay someone it ought to be him.

If you are suggesting the ultimate team sport should overpay individuals, you don’t get the concept of it being the “ultimate team sport”.

9 mil? lmao... that's like paying Jamal Adams $17mil a year.. the Numbers don't match the asking.

Is there any proof out there that he has asked for 9m yet?

I know Twitter is usually a reliable source for such things but?

I know I'll probably be in the minority by saying this but i think the Jets should pay that for him or something close to it. You see, BB isn't asking for $9 million per just to be a kick returner. He wants to be the starting slot receiver. 3rd on the depth chart. I personally think he would make an excellent Jets version of Cole Beasley. A great guy for short distance receptions. A Mr. 3rd down guy. I think he has that ability. I also think Zach Wilson would grow to love having a guy like that at his disposal. A guy that can almost achieve what appears to be a running play by catching the ball. A WR that can make teams commit more players to the box.

Now, i don't know if JD feels the same way? I doubt he does. But I think he should be transition tagged. Giving the Jets the opportunity to match any teams offer. He's an important piece and I think it's important to give Zach stability. Changing his WR's every year would make his growth that much harder.

The bold is one of the biggest reasons Sanchez struggled (aside from not being as good as advertised). The Jets did him no favors, as they did none for Darnold, in not trying to build a solid, consistent team around them both. We'll see this off season if Douglas learned this lesson or not. If not, get ready for another QB search and rebuild in 2023.

That's not going to happen with JD. To clarify, i don't believe JD will do that but there will be some upheaval in the WR room due to two reasons:

    1) Denzel Mims fooled all of us. He's turned out to be a dingbat and therefore the Jets need to move on from him.

    2) If the situation with Berrios contract demands becomes untenable, the Jets will be looking for a replacement. That would really suck as I think Berrios might very well be the player with the most chemistry with Zach.

With that said, JD is not some shithead like Mac was. Corey Davis and Elijah Moore will be here for a while.

I know they don't have much cap space but I have a feeling this guy is going to the Bucs.

I wonder. What if Berrios had his great year, not for us but for the Pats. And now he's a FA. I wonder how many would be pounding the table for JD to kick Belichick in the nuts and SIGN THE BEAST!!! If that were the case we'd probably think $9m is cheeeeap!

He made the most of the opportunity and he's to be credited for that, but I would not pay much for BB

if he's looking to get the most money, i don't blame him but it shouldn't be from us.

In fairness, while he obviously wants to get paid, he's probably also looking for a starting slot WR role, which the Jets would probably tell him is not quite guaranteed here. If they ideally get an X receiver in FA or the draft, it's Davis lined up opposite and Moore in the slot.

Would love to see him re-signed, but I think he'll find a more appealing situation elsewhere.

exactly. nothing wrong with him taking an opportunity, making the most of it, and trying to parlay that into a big contract and more playing time. same sense nothing wrong with the jets waiting for the market to settle. both sides are doing whats best for them and thats ok and fans need to understand that
