Good to hear. Hopefully he can convince deGrom that it's okay to merely be the best pitcher in baseball, rather than the best pitcher in baseball history, and as a result Jake can take the ball every fifth day for an entire season.

Of course, based on history, he will lead the team to success, but they will win the World Series the year after he leaves ...

Baseball manager may be one of the most overrated positions in sports..... but somehow the METS still usually fuck that up. Massage some egos, keep others in check, and dont fuck up pitcher substitutions.... They need an old school dude to right this ship.... lets go mets!

O/t but Julius Randle (Knicks) had a Lindor/Baez moment with the fans. Why are these athletes so damn sensitive nowadays?

Saw a tweet yesterday that when the offseason resumes, the Mets will be willing to go get one more big time name and push that payroll to 300 million -- Kris Bryant anyone?

Well damn…I’m assuming he’s going to plead the fifth on the stand.

Nope - he got immunity, so he testified about his use of cocaine and Percocet, going back to his time with the Mets. When asked if he lied to them about his cocaine use, he said "No one really asked." On the other hand, Adam Rubin, who covered the Mets for ESPN back then, said on WFAN today that the Mets were aware of his drug use, and tried to get him help, as did his agent. And also today, Terry Collins told WFAN that he asked Harvey if he needed help, but it sounds like he deliberately kept things vague, like the team didn't want to know what exactly was going on. So maybe the Mets were repeating their mistakes 30 years earlier with Gooden and Strawberry, or maybe Harvey is just a lying tool. It's hard to tell from this.

Damn......Remember when he would get random nose bleeds? The thought did cross my mind. Does a team even sign him? Is his MLB career now done? This is sad! Sounds like he had/has a big problem. I don't wanna wake up to news that he's dead. I really hope he's going to be okay.

I would be shocked if anyone signed him - he hasn't been any good since 2016 (5.92 ERA, 1.513 WHIP), has only been worse recently (6.83 ERA and 1.613 WHIP since 2019), and is now tarnished at a personal level.

It’s not a good look that Billy Eppler was the GM of a team that was basically had a drug den running through it but Stroman can fuck all the way off! What a bitter loser!

Fuck Stroman. Hopefully we smack him around a bit if he gets a start against us this year

Also -- Anyone see the reports Mets called Atlanta about Freeman before the lockout? Freeman to 1B and Pete to DH is what they were saying

Freeman is a free agent (when baseball comes back), so there's no reason for the Mets to have called the Braves about him.

Freeman would be a valuable addition to almost any team, both on the field and in the clubhouse, but I don't see it happening. I think the Braves will do what they can to keep him, especially if there's a chance he would go to a rival like the Mets. If he does leave, the Dodgers seem to be a much more likely possibility, particularly since he's from Southern California.

Ah. You're right. I misread the headline. I assumed they called the Braves about him after reading it, my mistake.

Translation -- The MLB was fine with teams going over the luxury tax like LAD and NYY but now that the NYM have an owner with more money than the rest of the league combined it's an issue.

Take the luxury tax and shove it up your fucking ass @MLB
