Hendrickson was a better option than Lawson even without looking at the book of what happened this past year and got half the guaranteed money Lawson got. There were plenty of choices at tightend. We opted for the guy that had 22 catches in three seasons on two teams before we signed him. Kroft should’ve been signed to be a teams TE3. The history of signing free agent receivers has not been very good in recent memory. Davis might’ve been the best option of a bad bunch and I was fine with signing him because of how putrid the position group was, but he needs at least a 900 yard year with reliable hands or he’s a bust. Douglas has been very good in the trade market and somewhat suspect in all other areas while being particularly bad at signing free agents. The defense got worse as he dumped more money into it this year. He’s really only signed two good free agents in Fant and McGovern and the line was still a disaster for half the year.
Wilson/Burks>>>> Linderbaum/Ekwonu JD is probably the best trading GM we’ve ever had. I’d rather trade for a Center or guard with experience. Heck we could probably land a pro bowl Center or guard for a 2nd or 3rd round pick so why would we use top 10 picks on those positions. Makes zero sense.
Couple more years ugh. Did you like Maccagnan too? Douglas was an experience front office guy when the Jets hired him and it seems like the team is not progressing.
Everyone says Douglas has a bunch of draft choices. Well, I say that gives him more chances to mess up. The Jets lack a stud WR, T, EDGE for the last decade it seems. I hope Douglas can finally address it.
i didnt know who tf mccagnan was and... turned out he sucked balls. maybe not a couple more years. maybe a year. we see how year 3 of 1st draft is, year 2 of 2nd and his 3rd... i think your just jumpingthe gun somewhat. ( this is not a SPECIFIC defense of JD... could be any other GM who drafted the same and i'd say the same) their are very few people in the NFL players and coaches who i have strong feelings about from the get
JD has pinned a lot of our rebuild on "projects" that he thought could be diamonds in the rough. That has failed dramatically. He needs to quit trying to out think everyone and build more traditionally.
Exactly he needs to deliver some studs for the Jets. They have no stars that teams have to game plan for or pundits can't stop talking about. I hope Douglas has a plan because it looks like the Jets aren't getting to where the fans want them to be. I'm not talking about winning the division I just want some competitive football. Stop tanking every year.
Agreed. What Douglas has tried to do though is something that established successful organizations do (Steelers, Ravens, Packers, Patriots namely) because they have the luxury of having an organization structure and coaching staff that understands how to coach up players and develop them. We have none of that. And we need to start winning some games before we can get cute with these developmental dart throws.
I'm wondering if we should take a look at Charles Cross. Not a huge guy and his scouting report indicates he's someone who can be good as a rookie with room to grow,
He must be Jason Kelce the 5 time pro bowl centre and10 year Vet though you might be able to trade for him if I am reading this part of his contract right... Per restructure if Kelce is on the roster June 2nd, 2022, a $30M guarantee will kick in. Would the Eagles do the dirty on a 10 year vet to save 30m (i am sure there will be plenty of teams desperate to get shot of that cost) Drafted in the 6th round, sigh. He could also mean Brandon Scherff 5 x pro bowl 1 x all pro Guard he is on a 1 year contract at 18m the other guard is Elgton Jenkins 1 x pro bowl and a FA at the end of 22 and only 26yo but he will be due the bag filler contract next.
