Biggest concern about Daboll is him going from the booth to the sideline. Is it too much for him? Is he going to call plays again? Lots to handle for a new HC.and making the move to the sideline.
It's so hard to predict who will and won't be successful as a GM or HC IMO, but these do seem like good hires for the Giants @CotcheryFan this was one of the best justifications for the Jets hiring Daboll
Yeah, the Flores situation bears watching. There is ample reason for teams to be leery of him: (1) he's from the Belichick coaching tree, which hasn't exactly produced good HCs; and (2) there have been stories suggesting Flores has an abrasive personality, so teams have to worry that he's Matt Patricia 2.0 or Adam Gase, Jr. .
I think if he’s able to bring Ken Dorsey with him, he’ll let Ken call the plays. If he has to go outside of Buffalo for the hire, I wonder if he calls the plays himself.
I am a big fan of Flores, but if I’m an owner, I’d really need to dig into those reports about his personality. Reminds me of Doug Marrone.
I wonder what's going on Jacksonville. One moment, their next HC is Leftwich. The next, it's still undecided.
The fact that several coaches have been hired and he hasn’t tells me that teams aren’t in love with stuff like this. I’m all about coaching players tough, but there’s a point when you’re coaching tough and there’s a point when you’re being an asshole and de-motivating players. He seems to have crossed over that line on the wrong side.
In the meantime, we get to hear more stories from ESPN talking heads its because owners/we're all racist assholes.
I just read that the Raiders signed Josh McDaniels as head coach. https://www.nfl.com/news/josh-mcdaniels-raiders-hire-head-coach-dave-ziegler-gm-patriots
Harbaugh going to the dolphins. I fucking hate that guy so it’ll be nice kicking his teeth in twice a year. Pompous ass
We weren't hearing his name anyway, but the collapse of the Chiefs, due in large part to their offense being totally unable to adjust to what the Bengals did in the second half, is important. Mahomes gets lots of blame, but this could very well put a stake in the heart of Eric Bieniemy getting a shot at a head coaching position.
The coordinator to head coach model is flawed unless you are handing them a stacked team. Trying to build a team with a first time head coach is just really unlikely to turn into a championship. If you have the 2006 Steelers you can hand them to Mike Tomlin and win in a couple of seasons but the organization was good to go and the team was already assembled when you handed it to him. Same for John Harbaugh with the Ravens, although it took him 4 seasons because the piece missing was the QB. The only recent coordinator that has taken over an NFL franchise and delivered a truly surprising championship was Doug Pedersen and the glory was short-lived in Philly. As in so many other things the Jets model is fundamentally flawed and unless we hit a 1000-1 shot we're just spinning our wheels regime after regime.
