The more I think about it, the more I think that no trade up for QB happens or a significant one. Still think that should be our move at 4. I know Houston also has that mentality reading their forums so maybe we luck out and get Thibedaoux that way. Anyways, with no trades in this draft, this is what I see. 4- Ikem Ekwoanu. I would love for this guy to play RG this year and re-sign Fant. We would have two legit backup LT options if Becton goes down in Ikem and Fant. He’s not a superstar at tackle I’ve read but he’s be a mauler at RG. Really finishes out our OL. He’s a long term RT for us in two years. 10- Ahmad Sauce Gardner. JD and Saleh love their tall corners. Think him and Bryce Hall make a nice 1-2 combo. I don’t know if Wilson is worth the pick at 10 or Burks. 2-Jermaine Johnson DE FSU. We still need to address pass rusher. 2a- Trey McBride TE CSU. Think if we want him, we need to get him here. Actually, hope he doesn’t go too crazy at the senior bowl so we don’t need to trade up for TE1. 3-Justyn Ross. WR Clemson. Once thought of as a Top 5 pick, Ross still brings size and potential to the class. Neck injury kept him out two years ago and poor QB play this year. Think he can be impactful. 4- James Cook RB UGA. Think he can be an impact back here spelling Carter. 4a- Cade Mays. RT UT. Think he can immediately be a RT starter or RG. Great depth guy. Played all over the line. 5- Charlie Kolar TE ISU 5a Tyreke Smith DE OSU
Nice. I don't see them drafting two TEs but what do I know. I'm guessing at ten a pass rusher is still in play and with the first 2 a WR like London might be in play if he falls that far. Just my guess.
Ekwonu isn't a superstar tackle? He was the best run blocker in the country. If you draft him he ain't playing guard or RT.
Watched NCST a few times. He has a Becton feel to him. Beast of a Run Blocker but struggles at times with speedy edge guys. He’s a top talent though.
Ekwoanu seems to be rising up the board….. And while not likely I do see a scenario or two where the Jets do take 2 TEs…..that position needs a lot of work and reliable bodies.
Interesting…. Out LT is triple stacked but we don’t have a long term solution in RG and we’re back to playing Fant on a position he struggled with. I always imagined we needed some thunder and Carter was our lightening. Interesting to see it done in reverse.
