Must have been written by a pat's fan. How did we have a worse draft than Seattle with 3 draftees and they didn't really play. Cowboys at 12, Bengals below us. It's like they went off one metric and one metric only. It's bizzare. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Yeah…hard to say Seattle’s 3 picks did better than ours all that being said..the injury thing is definitely concerning…both Moore and Carter missed a bunch of games … that’s a problem
New England got a better QB, a better running back, and future pro bowler on the defensive line. With less picks and picking after the Jets
That would be awesome. It's not hard to understand that Mac Jones had the better rookie season (due to surroundings or not, irrelevant) but still feel that Zach is the better QB and will have the better career. I thought Mac played pretty well though. Even in their blowout playoff loss.
Thinking he will be better is one thing. But he is in no way shape or form, currently, the better quarterback.
Of course, I can. Zach was asked to do a lot more and has shown more potential. Mac thus far has looked like a game manager. He can grow as well, he is just limited by his arm talent and physical tools. Only time will tell. I get it you thunk Zach sucks. Watching the film especially after the knee injury I am not sure how you come to that conclusion. (Don't throw stats at me) Time will tell. I will be rooting for him to succeed, unlike yourself and Browning.
they didn't get a better RB or QB. mac jones is "safer" but limited and if you look over the last 6 weeks of the season mac jones 197 YPG, 8 TDs, 7 INTs, wilson 170YPG, 5 TDs (+2 rushing), 1 INT wilson was also missing all his top WRs and has a worse o-line. mac jones as the season went on, regressed when teams started to figure him out. zach got better. cut down on turnovers and ran the offense better. mac jones was more pro ready, we all knew this, he just has less potential. zach has more potential and already is starting to catch up to jones. next year he likely out performs him stevenson is a good RB both him and carter were 4th rounders, but carter had way more tackles missed and showed more receiving skills and YAC skills. stevenson is more of a bruiser in between the tackles and not a fit for our system
When Zach was asked to do a lot he was throwing 2 INT's per game. Zach's ceiling this year was game manager, and not an especially good one. Jones' ceiling this year was good game manager. These rankings seem about right, maybe a tad harsh. We've gotta move past this low standards thing for our rookies. Just because they weren't insta-busts doesn't mean they were especially good. We're so used to awful draft picks that we overrate the mediocre ones because they seem great by comparison.
That and “starting games” or “playing snaps” because the roster was literal trash isn’t a positive. Playing snaps well is.
Frankly, it's too early to evaluate any 2021 draft class, but at this point, it looks like the Jets drafted at least 6 starters. That's a stellar draft.
What does potential even mean? Stronger arm and more mobility? Brady and Brees are two of the greatest QBs of all time, and neither one was known for his physical talent.
true but what great QBs like that are left? brady if he stays another year. that's about it. all the other best QBs have elite traits. I think the days of the manning/brady/brees style QBs is over and the rodgers style is now the norm as far as potential it's exactly that. he's simply more talented then mac jones in every way. for zach it's getting the mental part down. zach made plays mac jones could never make. the issue was turnovers. then at the end of the year (final 6 games) zach threw 1 INT to jone's 7. they both threw the same amount of passes as well. zach got better as the season went on, mac jones got worse
