LOL. The problem with that prediction ------- there is nothing bold about it. Its more like a riskless bet as the odds are clearly in your favor of that happening.
Its actually not as far fetched as it sounds ---- because ultimately, ---- he was someone else's draft pick.
I'm not a fan of doing this just because he was someone else's pick. Jamal needed to go because he went scorched earth on the organization, not because he was the previous GM's pick. Q has not displayed comparable behavior. And I believe he can become a force with better edge play. At some point, we need to keep our own players or there will be too much turnover and not enough continuity. While it's true that he hasn't been elite, it's not like he's a scrub who should be discarded ASAP.
That actually is pretty BOLD of Joe Douglas to believe in the young core roster he has built. Not making any flashy moves, but the team takes a big jump in 2022. Could happen.
I wouldn’t be completely opposed to it but at some point we’re going to have to start keeping good players we draft at somewhat friendly deals or we’re just going to just keep trading them away. Quinnen didn’t take the big step we all thought he would but he’s still a good player. We don’t have a lot of those on this team. He was also our Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee so I’m sure he’s well received in the locker room as he definitely is in the community. Edit: @CotcheryFan beat me to it.
You're not wrong of course, but given all the trade down the 4, sign X, Y & Z predictions, trades back into the first and everything I just felt staying put was different. I suspect JD ends up doing much of this but makes a bigger move as well. Call it the Woody effect.
Exactly! He's either our best defensive player or 2nd best after Mosely. Trading him would just create another hole that would have to be filled, and filled this year, not next. What's the point in that? He's one of the top rated IDL in terms of pressuring QBs. This trade makes zero sense to me.
I agree not a fan of Q Williams but it will create another hole that will need to be filled. The Jets aren't good in that department. My other bold prediction is Nathan Shepherd will finally make a tackle. Not a sack just a tackle. He has more penalties than tackles.
Saints likely gonna blow it up after losing Payton. QB situation looking iffy after Jameis injury, and paying Hill…Thomas could be an interesting target.
Thomas has played 5 games in 2 seasons with strange messaging around his injury. He’s due $24, $25, and $24 million over the next three years with significant dead cap hits over the next two. Amari Cooper is a notorious slacker that is due $22 million each of the next three seasons although he doesn’t have a big dead cap to get out from under the deal. I can get behind Ridley if the Jets do a deep dive investigation on him just quitting mid season and it’s a high percentage that it won’t happen again. But he’s also due a big payday as soon as he arrives basically. There’s also no comparisons to Diggs. Diggs was pissed because he wanted a new deal and to play with a better QB so he forced an off-season trade. Typical receiver stuff. Ridley straight up quit on his team mid season after they traded away their top player to make room for him to be a star.
They trade George Fant to Carolina for a top wide receiver. Note: this was not my idea. I got it from Jets X-factor on Youtube, but it sounds plausible.
My preference in order would be Ridley,Thomas, Cooper but I wouldn’t just rule out any of them. I can’t make a call on Ridley’s issue, we just don’t know enough to judge one way or the other. Thomas is strange, why he waited to get surgery is off putting for sure, but when he’s right,it’s really right. Cooper , I think would cost the least in a trade and is better than Davis so a good upgrade even if he’s over paid.
