He wasn't drafted by Texas. He also refused to re-sign with them and intensionally left them for Free Agency. If he wins his 1st and only World Series with the Rays you never know, he may decide to go out and into the HOF as a Rays HOF Champion...
I highly doubt it. Does your daughter write your posts for you? He played more years with Texas than anyone else.
Tony Oliva, Jim Kaat, Buck O'Neill, Bud Fowler, Minnie Minoso, and GIL HODGES named to the Hall of Fame. Gil becomes the fifth Boy of Summer to make the Hall, joining Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, and Pee Wee Reese. He was one of the top sluggers of the fifties, and by all accounts the best defensive first baseman of the decade; and of course he was the man who led the Miracle Mets to victory. Four of the five men who have had their numbers retired by the Mets are now in the Hall (Stengel, Seaver, and Piazza, with only Koosman not a member).
I just saw this! INSANITY! None of these players should be left out. HOF has officially become a joke
I couldn't agree more, except to say that it has been a joke. Here's the voting, BTW: Ortiz = 77.9 Bond = 66.0 Clemens = 65.2 Rolen = 63.2 Schilling = 58.6 75% required to get in.
It wasn’t against the rules when a lot of these guys are doing it. Forgotten in all of this is that Bud Selig was well aware of everything that was going on but turned a blind eye because home runs are awesome. He’s in the Hall of Fame. It’s a bit different for Bonds and Clemens and some other guys because they were Hall of Famers before their heads became the size of watermelons when they were very obviously juicing. It’s much different than the Sammy Sosa and Juan Gonzalez’s of the world that were heavily aided by steroids.
Also Bonds positive readings came up in 2000 and 2001 IIRC -- before the MLB implemented any type of testing system in 2003. The MLB made money hands over fist pushing the McGuire and Sosa chase to pass Maris. They didn't give a flying F*ck that these guys were juicing. Also, Schilling didn't make it because of his political views and some of the crazy shit he has said in the past. Dude also deserves to be in.
I go back and forth on Schilling. But it seems rather obvious he’s getting the Albert Belle treatment. He has enough support pointing to a majority thinking he’s a Hall of Famer. But not enough that’ll get past the whole “putting a bad guy” in.
Sosa’s not in for pretending he couldn’t speak English at the senate hearing Schillings not in for political reasons bonds is not in because he’s a jerk Clemens isn’t in for being a jerk and misremembering Ortiz is in because he’s a jolly fat guy it is now the hall of guys the writers like.
Is there any more dominating performance in modern day sports history than Bonds from 01-04? Shaq during the 3-peat? Jordan during his first 3-peat? I mean 2002 & 2003 might’ve been more captivating to watch than 01 because I’m not sure he saw a fastball in the zone for two straight seasons. Fair. I just believe he case is hurting because he lost what should’ve been back to back Cy Young wins to his teammate.
Bonds and Clemens deserved to get in. They played in an era where PED use wasn't against the rules, so why should they be pariahs? Ortiz was great too, but he was on the 2003 positive test list. I bet his relationship with the media is a big reason for his reaching the 75% threshold.
