I have apologized and admitted when I was wrong on this forum many times, and will continue to do so when I am wrong, which is more than I can say for a number of posters here.

He did. That's why he held out for more money for the Scouting Dept. Not only did he have his people in place, but he had revised the way that the scouts were to evaluate prospects. Mac had them rating prospects by which round they would go in and rating by BPA. JD told them to scrap that and to evaluate by scheme fit, character, if they loved football, and ability.

JD was hired after the draft in May, I believe. I don't remember JD firing any scouts, but he may have. He hired additional FO personnel, and changed how the scouts were to evaluate prospects. That was one of the first things he did.

Nope. I am not going to do that. Why? Because I will not have to. ;)

I will say this: All of the Zach Wilson haters need to get on board with him. He is your starting quarterback. He is the future of the team. You need to support him, not wish him failure so you can laugh at people who believe in him. We are all Jets fans and want success for the team.

I have not liked what I've seen so far about Zach, but Im not at a point to say he's not an NFL QB.

However, you are spot on about real competition for Zach next year. It's the best move for the Jets
see 2008, Warner and Leinart. Cardinals reach the Super Bowl.

Thanks. I try. I don't always succeed, but at least I try to be honest and a stand up guy.

No, he isn't. Needlessly creating a QB competition could only serve to divide the team. Zach is our QB, period, until he isn't.

This is true & is why I'm expecting big things from JD & his staff. The Jets made a documentary
that showed the process that Joe & his staff went through in the offseason. It was very encouraging &.well made documentary . 2021 was JD's first year with his hand picked CS & scouts & staff. Hope they duplicate 2021 draft.

It's honestly a terrible take and not how you run a football team. I would probably give up on Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh if they even considered that. Just shows you how much he strongly dislikes Wilson.

I believe you. But I was responding to another poster who was using Douglas potentially not having his scouts in place as an excuse for the bad 2020 draft.

He was hired in June 2019, so he had almost an entire year, including the 2020 offseason, to get his guys in place for the 2020 draft.

You got to take it when you can. This is what we have devolved into looking for the small rays of sunshine.

The scouts were already in place with contracts through to the end of the 2020 draft period by the time JD was hired. He was able to make limited structural changes to the scouting dept and change the evaluation process only before the 2020 draft. 2021 was the first time he had his people and his system fully in place. By all means criticise him for things totally within his control, but this wasn't. Almost a year maybe, but with a team put in place by his predecessor which he had to live with.

Bridges get built in less time. But Douglas should get a mulligan because he needs a year to hire some scouts. unreal

When you have been a losing organization for decades it takes time to get your people in place and change the way they have thought for decades. So yes he gets a pass if the changes he made are joining signs of improvement. Sure, we all want the changes to happen quickly but this organization has been a mess for decades and JD is changing it from top to bottom.

You may not like it but this is how you build long-term success. We have tried to sign a bunch of free agents win 8-10 games just miss or get knocked out of the playoffs early. Then win 4 games the next year fire the coach and GM and start again. We have been in this cycle for almost 20 years now.

JD is the first GM to break it all down and build back from scratch. It takes time.

Okay but there aren't signs of improvement. Since 2019 the Jets have won 6 games total (6-27). Long-term success sounds nice, so does short-term, or ANY success for that matter
