What did I learn today? Build the OL and pass rush. Burrow was lucky he didn't get injured, and VERY lucky to win, only because Tannehill sucks. Zack only has to play competent, game management type football. Get him a few more pieces on O via FA or later in the draft, but most importantly, we have to protect him, and also have to be able to stop the other team sometimes. These awful 45+ point allowances has got to stop beginning week 1 next season. Notice the low scores yesterday. Not sure that will ring true today, but the cold weather is partially responsible, I guess. I just came away feeling that we need to build the best offensive line in football for ZW and to get better on defense.

I also learned that surrounding a young QB with weapons can get you to the conference championship game even when your OL has a historical bad postseason performance.

Luckily we have picks 4 and 10, along with two picks in the 30s and a lot of money to spend. We can build the OL, add weapons and improve the defense all in one fell swoop.

Aaron Rodgers once again immunized against the Super bowl.

I'm optimistic we can go 6-11 next season if Douglas doesn't totally screw the pooch again in free agency and the draft.

Then I'm pretty sure we have another regime change.

I'd say (6-11) is if he DOES screw the pooch in Free Agency and the Draft. If he nails it, they will be in contention for a playoff spot.

While I can see why people say this, I can also make a case that the Jets were nowhere near being competitive enough to make this sort of investment, either draft pick or $, in a kicker. How many games in the last 2 years would a great kicker have won? A couple at best. Now, if the FO believe that the time is now right and the team is on the up it might well be the right move. Or that might be one the following year. I don't really have an issue with not spending resources on a kicker when the team has way more pressing needs and aren't going to win with or without one.

Remember that I think Zach Wilson is not an NFL QB. No way the Jets contend next year even if Douglass nails everything else. A bad QB will sink you every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

If the Jets want to contend next year they need to bring in a real contender to start over Wilson and once he wins the competition they might have a chance.

I'll add a slightly different twist to all the great points made here after yesterdays Game. Not only did I learn the unsurmountable value of a great OL to keep the QB from getting killed, as Burrow is lucky to be standing today, but the value of a stout Defense like SF that absolutely, positively kept them in the game for 89 minutes. Not even Aaron and Adams could overcome that pressure.
As we enter free agency please JD give me more OL and give me an improved D, and somewhere early in the draft one WR similar to Chase that is a great difference maker.

Oh, I remember! However, Zach Wilson is an NFL QB, and you will be pleasantly surprised when you see so next season!

Yeah, agreed! Well said. That second game flipped everything the first game did on it's head. Jimmy G played similar to Tannehill, but the 49ers defense was able to stop an all-time great QB in Rodgers. Then a few special teams blunders hands the 49ers the win, showing you that it is still a team sport too. Great stuff.

Robby Gould with the Bears as well. Now he’s like 20/20 in playoff FG’s

When Zach proves that he IS a FQB and a very good, if not great one at that, I hope that you will be man enough to admit that you were wrong. If not, you should go away.

But will you be man enough to say I'm sorry when Zach fails?

I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong on this one.

He was hired in the spring of 2019. If he didn't have his team in place for the 2020 draft, he's an even worse GM than I thought.

    How could anyone forget?

I'm not so sure it's a case of a "bad QB" or a bad evaluation of a QB here.

I've never had a problem admitting when I'm wrong. Unlike some who seem to be more invested in being right than in having the Jets be better.

You've beaten this point to death, Chief. It's borderline over the top.

    Correct me if I'm wrong...

But wasn't Douglas hired at a weird time in the hiring cycle because Mccagnan was fired at a weird time.

I thought that by the time JD was hired potential scouts/coaches etc already had positions. So rather than fire all scouts who were already employed by the Jets he kept them on and let them work the 2020 draft.

Then during the next normal hiring cycle he fired dead weight and hired his own people.
