With multiple years left, they can make him happy with a deal that is top of the market on paper but more team friendly in reality. Devin Lloyd can come in and start at MLB, with Mosley going back to WLB similar to last training camp. Quincy Williams can either play SLB/Backup WLB and prove he deserves a long term position after Mosley moves on. Marcus Williams becomes a major improvement at Safety, and he and Hunter are the Jets 2 big moves prior to the draft. I believe this makes the Jets a young but very competitive team, and leaves them with 2023 Draft assets as follows: 1,1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7.
I love Lloyd he’s an absolute stud. I’d have no problem grabbing him at 10. I like the trade too. Gives us another pick next year and who knows what Washington will be like. I just don’t like taking a IOL with the pick… we can grab one that is just as good in the later rounds or in free agency. I’d much rather grab Garrett Wilson
I like it a lot…is Hunter worth a high 2 and a 4 though? I know the name, and it’s a huge need for us, but don’t know enough to say he’s worth that price…seems high. I do like getting a 2 back in the Wash trade so I get the thinking there
Max, do you intend to take Kayshon Boutte or Jaxon Smith-Njigba in 2023? Higgins' track record indicates acquiring him won't move the needle much for our WR group. Davis could rebound, but he has a year left and I'm not sure Mims has a future with the team.
Mock offseason 3.0 ......Your mouth to God's ears. If JD can pull this off it will be the best off season ever...count me in.
I think so. Injuries have been what have kept his name out of the headlines for a while but when healthy he’s a top 5 Edge Rusher. I say if a 2 and 4 get it done, do it.
WR in 2023 is absolutely a possibility. Higgins would be depth only for sure, but to me depth is more urgent than upgrade at WR. I think a boosted OL and TE group will surprise people how effective the offense will be. With multiple 1sts for a 3rd consecutive year, you can hit any position you damn please in 2023 I think.
Would it be wise to trade for an injury-prone Edge, especially after Lawson? You know how posters here have killed JD for that.
Always liked Higgins. Seems like he can be a good possession receiver. Meh hands on contested catches down the field though. I like the double tightend thing. Never understood why no one tried to do that after it worked out so well for the Pats before Aaron Hernandez was found out. Hunter’s great but are we really going to make a move for a guy like that who could hit the downslope of his career and will be paid well while that happens?
I mean I think so, but it’s just my opinion. I think his track record overall is actually really good… In his rookie season he played in 14 games, and then all 16 games in each of the next 4 straight seasons. It was only the last 2 he had issues, and he looked really good this year before his torn peck which I think normally heals fine.
He’s 27 and I think you can hope for 3-4 good years… It’s a legit question but I’ve always been a huge fan of his so I’d give it a shot.
As with your others, I like it a lot, but disagree with some of the moves. Positives: Like it overall, like the trade downs, Marcus Williams signing, Casey Heyward signing, most of your Re-Signings, drafting Lloyd, Linderbaum, McBride, and Ruckert Mixed: I don't think we need to draft a CB early and sign Heyward. I like the Heyward signing, and think that is sufficient for this offseason. If you're not re-signing Fatukasi, then I won't quibble with signing the SF NT. I don't like passing on signing a FA TE. I think that's a mistake, even though I really like the two TEs you drafted. Negatives: Not signing a FA TE and bringing Kroft back, there are RBs I like better than Zamir White, Re-signing Joyner (I don't think he can stay healthy, and he's not that good any more), signing Morstead is unnecessary as Mann doesn't need competition imo I would be quite happy with this offseason, but think it could be improved
He’ll be 28 at the halfway point of next year. Von & Mack were fine until 30 so you might be right. What’s his contract situation? If we go corner in the first four picks I want Roger McCreary.
That trade down with Washington in my opinion would be a huge boon to the Jets franchise. The quality of the player gotten with the first pick would likely be close to a wash, then likely two more impactful guys would come on board over the next year as well. Exactly the kind of move the Jets need to refill the barren cupboard. How realistic do we feel it is that the Football team would want to make that move this year? That would be so they could draft Pickett theoretically? Lets hope he has a great combine and "process"
There are what, 4-5 impact Centers? Having a top 10 Center isn’t as good as it sounds, and this guy can be an impact Center. Perfect scheme fit, dominant in the run game.
I think they would want to. It’s Rivera’s 3rd year and QB has been their major issue. If they miss the playoffs again with shit QB play, he may not necessarily get a 4th season.
I can get down with McReary. Hunter currently makes an embarrassingly low $14.5 million per year, which he isn’t happy with. He is under contract for 2 more years, with a total of $25.5 million (so the Jets would get him coming in at $12.75/year because the Vikings pushed some cash forward to keep him happy) $20 million in 2022, and $5.5 million in 2023. If the Jets did something like a 3 year extension for $30 million/year he’d get to claim he was the highest paid edge in football, since it’s measured in new money, but they’d actually have him at the price of 5 years $23.1 million/year in real dollars which is a nice discount. Probably have guarantees that would span 2022-2023.
What attributes of Burks do you prefer over Wilson? Wilson is a star in the making if you ask me. Size, speed, catches everything and loves the game. I think he’s close to can’t miss
