Raiders & Broncos both interviewing Jerrod Mayo. Raiders interviewing Patriots first year director of player personnel Dave Ziegler. Why do teams keep trying these guys out?
Talk about zero coaching experience, at least that I am aware of. I think he is definitely coaching material but I figured he would start out as an assistant.
The Texans have next to no credibility at this point. They can probably hire a retread or another unknown like Culley but they really have very few options other than doing something whacky. Given that reality they could do worse than hire McCown. Also, they are probably going to try to cheap out on the hire given they are paying Culley for 2 more years.
They’re also likely heavily interested in McCown because he’s heavily invested in the same religious principles as that lunatic Jack Easterby. The religious fantastic reverend that they’re letting run their franchise.
In other news, Matt Rhule is a moron. I wonder what the odds are that he survives more than one more year.
So you're saying the Texans are becoming a cult? Not like the NFL as a whole doesn't worship at the altar of the fatted calf but I'm guessing they'll run the McNair's out of the league before they allow competing altars to be set up.
I’m not sure if you’re agreeing or disagreeing with what I said but have you read anything about Easterby? He’s a self proclaimed faith healer by trade.
Is it wrong that I actually take some faint satisfaction in the fact that there are sorrier, more slapdick franchises than the Jets?
Maybe this hiring will get the ball rolling. There are still 8 open spots: Bears Dolphins Giants Jaguars Raiders Saints Texans Vikings

Ha, I heard about that. Sometimes one man's trash is another man's treasure. I don't believe that's the case here.
Well, Culley was fired for "philosophical differences". Who is to say if there is also a hidden meaning there? I think the strategy here is the Texans are hoping that McCown also gets interviewed elsewhere so it doesn't seem like complete folly to make him their guy. No coaching experience, but what, a scam artist like Benny Hinn will show them the way? "In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, and one must be wrong. God cannot be for, and against the same thing at the same time." - Abraham Lincoln In other words, God doesn't give a shit about football.
