He brings up a good point though- obviously saying Saleh & the staff had a “stud performance” in the embarrassing loss to Buffalo is a strong opinion and it’s your opinion.

Instead of making silly analogies like the earth round/flat, and being so combative to people who disagree, why don’t you just tell us WHY you think it was a “stud performance”?? What did the staff do that impressed you?

In all honesty, if somebody called you ignorant to your face in a pub after a couple of beers, I'm gonna guess that a bout of fisticuffs may ensue.

he's more then welcome to have an opinion but he also you know should make a decent argument for it. I can agree to disagree if someone makes a decent point. but to claim a team with the youngest roster, most injuries, most rookies starters, most money on IR, missing pretty much it's entire offense going against a team that has the number 1 defense and top 5 offense and not missing anyone of note (not to mention the same team that whooped the pats who have a better roster then us and the best coach all time even worse then we lost by) is on even ground is a poor argument. saleh brought a knife to a gun fight which was no fault of his own and people want to say he was bad because he got shot. he did a better job in a worse situation then the best coach of all time did against the same team a week later in a better position. that was my point. you have to have context, which he refused to put any context in what the coaching staff had to work with

well people aren't exactly known for being reasonable and able to comprehend things when alcohol is involved. If you were say on a debate team having a debate and called the other person ignorant of your point (more fitting to this situation) they wouldn't take it personal, they would counterpoint it

Slightly different scenario, I could also call a mate an ignorant shit and he wouldn't punch me either, I'd suggest your conversation was a level or two above debating team status but that may be just how it came across in written form.

could be. wasn't my intent which is why I didn't fling insults (although he did) and just told him nicely not meant as an insult but your being ignorant.

I think Saleh did a decent job all things considered. He was missing so many 1st stringers, playing on the road and against a team that need the win to clinch the division. The weather conditions were crap as well. I don't think there is any head coach we could have swapped with that would have done marketably better. So I get where the OP is coming from. Was is true STUD performance? I would say no. But to argue the counterpoint for 2 weeks is a bit much, even for me.

Someone has to be the one that lets the other guy get the last word in. The rest of the forum is not changing their mind at this point. Hopefully someone is the bigger man and we can all move on.

That's not really an answer to my question. And I'm not asking you about Ralebird's opinion, I'm asking you about your opinion.

You gave Saleh & his staff a "stud" grade for the Buffalo loss. Why? They called a good game you think? They went 1,2,3 punt all game but the plays were impressive to you or something? What playcalls or decisions made by the staff specifically were impressive enough to warrant a "stud" grade?

Well i explained part of it in the OP but to give a longer answer when you open up the context and think about what a coach can really do. How do you grade a coach? for me it's about how the team plays compared to what's expected. If they play worse then expected the coach did bad. If they came out flat and unprepared the coach did bad. If they perform as expected the coach didn't do good or bad. If they exceeded fair expectations based on the active roster and opponent, then the coaching staff did good.

So when I look at the situation of the fact that when completely healthy we are a much worse team then the bucs or bills. both are in the playoffs still in the final 8 teams. the bills have a top 5 offense and defense. The bucs are the defending champions who brought back all 22 starters from their SB run. neither team is ravaged with injuries, however the bucs were missing some key players like godwin , barrett, and JPP. So when I look at the teams we fielded against, we didn't really have any chance and both games should have been blowouts. meanwhile TB it took a 20+ yard TD pass with less then 30 seconds left for them to beat us and the Buff game we were down by 1 going into the 4th quarter and realistically they were given 4 points on that BS diggs TD and we should have been up by 3 going into the 4th quarter.

on offense we already were a young and undertalented team going up against the top defense but we were missing our top 3 WRs, our TE 2 and 3. our top 2 OTs, and our OC. the o-line was ravaged with having our 3rd and 4th OTs, and a backup OC. the WRs couldn't get open as they just aren't good enough to be starters. the game should have been a blowout. on defense much of the same missing a lot of players in an already under-talented defense. conversely that same buffal team a weak later against a better team in a playoff game were up 33-10. against a better team with the best coach in NFL history coaching them. we held the bills offense to 10 points in the 1st 3 quarters and realistically should have been 6, the same offense who just scored a TD on 7 straight drives against a more talented defense with a better coach. If you can't look at what buff did to NE and how well we played them with the team we had to field and not be impressed then IDK what to say really and that's where context comes into play.

At the end of the day we had nothing to play for. our last 2 weeks were against 2 of the best teams in the NFL both with a real shot at the SB this year. both of them were playing for seeding. we had 50 million on IR, traded assets for picks we haven't made yet, youngest team with more rookies then any other team starting. most injured team in the NFL. rookie QB and we played both of them tough and took TB down to the wire and were neck and neck with the bills for 75% of the game. That's why I give the coaching staff credit. I can understand the argument for not including lafleur since our offense did nothing but we really just had no chance with the talent we fielded and zach went the last 4 games without an INT despite ebing sacked 9 times, while I just watched pro bowler murray throw an ugly INT in the playoffs due to pressure and got nothing going on offense with plenty of talent around him. Context is important when grading someone's performance especially coaching, and thats why I felt they were all studs for the buffalo game because realistically we should have played them like NE did and get rolled over because they are that much better then us

So what happened in week 17 that has you calling anyone at all a stud? Show what anyone did that was positive without trying to make an irrelevant comparison to other teams in other times. Or just admit you are simply looking for the slightest bit of subjective wiggle room to avid slamming those who have proven they deserve nothing less.

And claiming you're not attacking someone while at the same time telling them they have a comprehension problem is disingenuous at best; smells like BS to me.

Perhaps you should go back to the fourth post here which was the first time I asked you to support your grade and also suggested that we not be so quick to put out grades, especially true now that you're asking "How do you grade a coach?" In any event, Kyler Murray's performance on Monday has absolutely not a single thing to do with the Jet's coaches' performance in Buffalo - it's just noise, not context.

It makes no sense to talk about the Tampa game or the New England game when grading anyone from the Jets in the Buffalo game

but thanks for the actual response this time

I’ll also add that they didn’t exceed expectations. The spread for the game was 16.5, which is a very big number and the Bills still covered. Everyone figured the Jets would get beat convincingly and they did. That’s meeting expectations not exceeding them

You do the studs and duds thing every week, sometimes I read them, most of the time I don’t, but damn man, you should raise the bar a little

You can't win why do you try? You failed to mention Cole and Crowder both got injured during the game so the offense was down their top 5 receivers. The coaches did an excellent job all things considered.

Why you keep arguing with these 2 is pointless. Ralebird will keep taking the opposite stance no matter what you say. He is not interested in a conversation he just wants an argument.

Yeah there shouldn’t be many good things to say about a team that lost by three scores in shitty weather no less (usually an equalizer).

You forgot to mention the weather which pretty much negated the passing game for both sides depending on which way you were going. That's swings and roundabouts though as, if it gives the O a sort of out, it makes the D more culpable for the yards they gave up.

you literally ignored the answer to your own question and the rhetorical answer to mine. at this point i'll just accept you are trolling and move on

I was bouncing between 2 threads which is why thats in there with the other thread grading MLF for the year. 2 threads where a certain user is well doing you know what. either way the short version is exactly that. we exceeded any realistic expectations we could have had going into a game that under talented. Spreads are for betting not expectations. they'll never throw out a 30 point spread even when a team should get crushed by 30. the buffalo whooping of the pats this past weekend who are a playoff team and better then us, shows how well we played them that game even if the final score didn't reflect it. we also would have covered if not for the gifted 4 points from the refs. If you think anyone expected the game to be a 1 point game going into the last quarter you are mistaken there. everyone here thought it would be over by halftime with us being blown out of the water

your right about ralebird which is why i'm done with that. as far as BN goes he asked me to elaborate why I listed the coaching staff as a stud. so i did. it's fair to explain a comment if someone asks for it. whether he accepts that or not doesn't matter but I do think if someone wants an explanation I should give it
Yup weather was a huge factor. the wind was brutal. it's buffalo in january. Like the NE game where the pats only threw the ball 2 times. it wasn't that bad but it definitely limited the passing game for both teams

OK, well, think the bar should be higher. And they play 4 quarters in the NFL

Josh Allen threw for 240 yards and 2 TDs. The weather only limited one team.

Well maybe I guess. On a sunny 70 degree day does Allen throw for 400 & 4 Tds?

240 and 2 TDs isn't anything impressive. it's below his average from a pro bowl QB with a pro bowl WR and his full set of o-line and skill players.
the next week he went out and threw for 308 yards 5 TDs and 84% completions and would have been more if they didn't slow it down because the game was over by halftime. we played them better then the pats did who were a more talented team in the playoffs with a better coach.

Good grief. I agree 240 and 2 TDs isn't overly impressive but it is when you compare it to the Jets QB who moved the ball a whopping 5 net yards in that very same game.

And you wanna give out "stud" labels to that
