Islanders play at UBS this afternoon, and are then on hold for their four-game road trip out west, as it has been postponed. If they don't make up any games during that time, they will have played their first 27 games in 90 days, and will have 55 games still scheduled with 119 days left in the season. I really don't see how the NHL can continue with the system they currently have in place. Something's got to give.
Isles win it in OT on a goal by Dobson. First win in OT this year. After Edmonton dominated the second period, Isles outshot them 16-2 in the third period and overtime.
Nice win today. They have played better these past few weeks. Sucks that the next game isn't until Jan 13th vs NJ
I believe 4-0-1 in their last 5 and 6-2-4 in their last 12. Win on Saturday and that brings the Isles to NHL .500. After that the climb to real .500 begins
Less impressive game today, other than Varlamov. I'm really starting to wonder if Barzal is ever going to be more than he's been - you keep looking for him to take over games, and it just doesn't seem to happen more than occasionally. Talent just isn't enough by itself.

A game typically lasts a little less than 2 1/2 hours, but if it goes into overtime it will obviously be longer. I haven't been to the arena, so I don't know how easy or difficult it is to get out and onto the Cross Island Parkway (which runs right next to the building). Unless it's a blowout, I would think that if you leave with between 5 and 10 minutes left in the game (which translates to about 15 minutes real time) you should be able to beat the rush.
Absolutely shocking news - Clark Gillies has passed away at the age of 67. Jethro was the quintessential power forward, and one of the toughest men to ever lace 'em up. A true Islander. Start of 3rd period. Love you guys chant of Yes Yes Yes. Reminded me Jets Jets Jets. The guy from Karate Kid was at the game too. I saw another guy in Jets gear like me. Oh well. Loved the experience. Wife became a crazy Islanders game 2 years ago. I promised her I would take her to a game this year and at least 2 game every season after this season. I might become Islanders fan myself you know. Lol.
