Is there anyone that supports the idea that not improving next year (wins and losses) is acceptable?

Another thing that we must take into account from the fans' perspective is that not everyone is the same age. Someone who is in their mid 20's will most likely be more willing to be "patient" than someone who is say in their mid 70's. Those fans know the window is not as big and really need this regime to get it right. It's important to keep that in mind when addressing someone who is well into the "back nine" as they say. I'm 54 so I'm starting to get it. My father in-law is 80 and has been a huge Jets fans from back when they were the Titans. Hard for me to tell him to be patient.

There used to be a simple fix for this problem. You just hired Rich Kotite to win you a quick Super Bowl or two before you died!

But since Kotite retired, we have no answers.

Our biggest problem lies in leadership. That is, we keep hiring guys with no prior experience doing the job they were hired to do. Gase not withstanding, all of our hires had to learn on the job. Same for our GM's. Usually results in more misses than hits as the gamble on capturing "lighting" in a bottle is the wreckage this causes when its a miss.

Our best stretch was when Parcells was hired. Rex as well although you had a feeling a burnout was coming sooner than later. We've been in the desert ever since.

I fear our next best stretch is when we hire another HC with prior success. Doesn't have to be SB winner, but he does have to have a moderately successful resume as a HC. We can't go on hiring guys that it takes 2-3 years to learn how to do the job. Same goes for our GM's although JD is showing more progress than Idzik or Macc ever did.

Time to perhaps follow Cohen's Met model and spend big market cash on big market talent to run a big market team in a big market. Woody probably will have to pony up major cash to bring a big name in here to right the ship, but if that' what it takes so be it. He's making a ton and its time to put some of that profit into the FO. Perhaps even elevate JD to VP of Football OPS and go from there. He's tried damn near every other org chart in the books without success, why not try a moderately successful model for once...

IF Saleh doesn't get this thing flipped PDQ, the next HC has to be an established HC if for no other reason be a placeholder and get this team going in the right direction. Not to mention credibility with a Uber skeptical fanbase that has stayed loyal thru thick and mostly thin, This will force Woody and probably JD out of their comfort zones but at this point, what do we have to lose...

Let's not give up just yet. I do not want to talk about the next coach before we are done with the current one.

Here is hoping our next HC is not before Saleh brings the Jets to Multiple playoff births and hopefully a Superbowl.

One thing that scares me about hiring a previous head coach is that most of them are coming off a firing. Kotite and Gase are two prime examples. Parcells was different because we basically stole the guy from NE while he was still employed. But most other candidates are guys that failed at their previous job.

I agree. I didn't see anything this year that would warrant Saleh's firing. He had a few in game gaffes but no more than your typical HC. The team never quit on him and that's huge. The biggest bitch you'll see here is that he hired his "buddies" and didn't fire the DC after 5 games. Personally I think that would have been a bad look. Let's see how he addresses it in the off-season.

Reid, Bellicheck, Carroll, Coughlin all did pretty well in their 2nd (and 3rd) acts.... ;)

Nobody is giving up, just giving notice. '22 absolutely cannot be a sequel to '21. Tangible improvement has to be shown. Its that's simple and not asking a lot.

I’m not advocating for him for the Jets but I think Bill O’Brien is going to get a good second chance head coach. He was a really good coach before he took over the General Manager job from Rick Smith who was already a decent GM.

I don’t think that organizational dysfunction grew roots because of Bill OB.

I’m rooting for Bowles as well. And Caldwell got fired but he was a pretty good second chance HC.
