I know everybody trashes taking off ball linebackers in the first round but this kid was far and away the best player on the field against Michigan. He can cover in zone, he can cover man to man, he calls the best defense in the country (one of the best ever) and diagnoses plays at an unbelievably fast rate. He was invisible in the first installment of Bama/Georgia but I’m interested to see how he plays tonight. I get Kuechly vibes from him - a true culture changer on defense by himself.
Gonna be a couple of really good LB prospects on the field tonight. Nakobe Dean for Georgia and Henry To'oto'o and Christian Harris for Alabama. Any one of these guys would be a good target for us in the mid-late 1st (Dean) or early 2nd (To’oto’o or Harris).
I think he'd be a reach with either of our 1st rounders, but would be a fantastic pick if we traded down to the teens or twenties.
Dean with a potential scoop and score on the first drive!!! EDIT: Nvm, looks like Young’s arm was moving forward. Will probably be overturned.
I’ve been very impressed with both Bama linebackers tonight. Henry To’oto’o is shot out of a cannon every time I see him play. Dude looks like he loves to hit.
I wouldn't be against taking two linebackers in this draft. Mosley's guarantees are done after next season and while he was a nice waivers find, Quincy has his limitations.
He's looking good so far. The more I think about it the more I think we should probably trade down from the #4 pick. If we can get another first rounder we can hypothetically leave this draft with 5 starters which would be fantastic. We could add a WR, LB, OL, S, TE, all taken within the first 2 rounds.
I’m starting to like the trade down from 4 as well even into the teens. The only realistic candidate is the Eagles with 15 & 16 and I don’t see them having a target to do so. But I can definitely see the Steelers, Saints, and WFT mulling a move up to get Pickett or Corral. Denver as well and maybe Atlanta. They’d all have to be future firsts or a haul of seconds.
I know teams can sometimes do crazy things for a QB, but I just don't see it with the group in this group. Also worth noting, no one has traded up into the top 5 for a non-QB since the Bills did it for Sammy Watkins. A trade down from 4 might be possible, but I can't see it being for one of those crazy bounties we've seen in previous years.
I think we're in as good of a spot as anyone on that front. I don't think any of the top 3 teams would take a QB and only 1 (Texans) would look to move down IMO. Once you get behind us, there are a couple of teams that may take a shot on a QB in the Giants and Panthers. If someone like Denver, WFT, New Orleans, or Pittsburgh wants to get "their guy", they'll look to get in front of those 2 (at least in front of Carolina) and take him.
What are your thoughts on him? Or more specifically his size? He's right about DARRON LEE size. However, I see NO similarities between him and Lee. NONE. Whatsoever. Nakobe Dean is an excellent football player with a football IQ off the charts. Extremely athletic, high motor, with excellent instincts in coaching a defense. A defensive coordinator on the field of you will. I personally would not even hesitate to draft him. I think he would be an excellent player for us. He's actually the very same size as Quincy Williams. So what do you say? Should Nakobe Dean be someone Joe Douglas drafts?
Love Nakobe Dean. Not at #4 and probably not at #10, but dropping down a few slots getting Nakobe Dean and an extra pick would thrill me.
