I see the 54 yards and I think of bull durham lollygaggers speech. What’s our record ?
    8-16
    How did we win 8?
    it’s a miracle.
How did we end up with 54 yards? A miracle 40 yard gainer on the one time everything worked together.

D - Bottom line: Sam Darnold had a better first year, and it's not even close.

I give Wilson a final grade of C. I think that is fair. He was close to failing at the midterm but he got his act together to raise his grade to a respectable C.

In the off-season I'd like to see Zach grow a free more inches so he can see over the OL and make an effort to bond with his teammates. Maybe have some sleepovers where they can tell each other scary stories and eat popcorn. I want these guys giggling like schoolgirls on the sidelines.

Maybe this. When Z was scrambling around he'd pull up and look downfield only to pull the ball back down and keep scrambling. Either there were no WR to throw to or maybe this is the 'new Zack' who doesn't throw off platform, thus throwing zero ints over the last 5 games? Maybe being careful with the ball beaten into his head has kinda killed off those crazy throws?

At least he'll know what he needs to work on this offseason. Really hit the gym and pick up 3 or 4 inches.

I'm not putting down anyone, but there are some terrible takes in this thread, as if you don't know how football works at all. That's okay. People inside the Jets organization finally do. And it will show up on the field in 2022.

I am sure soon there will be analysis from the high vintage point on every throw, but there were numerous occasions when commentators, who had that vintage point said he has no one open. We need better supporting cast as simple as that.

He didn't play "hero ball" he was running for his life, with all back-up WRs, and a swiss-cheese O-line!!

Yeah, Hard to trust who you are throwing to when you just met them in the tunnel running out for the game. Shoot, a couple of the guys I think he met in the huddle.

They totally stacked the box…shoot it looked like they had 8 or 9 guys in the box every play…they were not afraid of our scrub receivers and that’s all it was…there was not going to be a running game against that defense, and we didn’t have the horses to make them pay through the air.

On a related note, did Mims get more penalties than catches yesterday?

ridiculous assessment. Look at the QB on the other side, he didn’t need “hero ball” in fact he reigned that in on purpose

This is a Bills team that struggled all year to stop the run. And a Jets team that had been running lately.

All the Jets needed was to complete a few short passes to keep the chains moving, especially when the Bills couldn’t punt the ball or flip the field. And yet, gifted with so many opportunities, Wilson still blew it with his “hero ball.” He couldn’t complete anything

Is it still called "hero ball" when it should be called "the o line is a sieve so run for your life" ball?

Mims doesn't have a target in 100+ snaps.

It wasn't hero ball as much as play it overly safe ball. The issue is, when your losing in the 4th quarter, even if there is nobody open, at some point you gotta at least throw up 50/50 ball to give your team a chance. We had no hope of winning without taking some chances. The chances were never taken, so winning was out of the question. Just a lot of running in the pocket and 4 yard outs.

His height isn’t an issue. His instinct to retreat backwards to where the tackles are pushing speed rushers is.

Tough to blame him for doing so yesterday though. He was getting hit from all angles and the offensive line was horrible.
