D - https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...-on-pace-to-rewrite-record-books-in-year-one/ Davis Mills outperformed him behind a garbage Texans OL and team that was pretty much hot garbage like the Jets so much so we beat them. Ultimately the expectations were high (and that is my own fault) think Herbert but in the end we got less than Darnold, yes there are signs that there is a QB in there, so we move into season 2 hoping yet again.
A C. He definitely got better and cut out the killer mistakes as the season went on, but it seemed to come at the price of play making. Get the balance between making plays and being safe right and maybe he'll make it. There wasn't any performance that really shouted out franchise QB. At his best he was kind of okay and there was more of that than there was bad at the end of the season. That said he reminded me of Geno in the last few games, yesterday particularly, running around and dropping back further and further making bad situations infinitely worse.
Wilson can't see over the line. He doesn't have a long term future in this league. I saw it with my own eyes yesterday. My wife went all out and got us the best seats I've ever had for a game. You can use all the excuses you want about the wide receivers BUT they were getting open, I'm telling you. Wilson can't see!!!! That's why he goes backwards 10 yards before throwing it. -- Someone compared him to Baker Mayfield on here and now I think that's so accurate. He's a worse version of Baker Mayfield though and considering Mayfield is going to be benched what does that tell you
Herbert is awesome. To go from watching the QBing we saw in the Buffalo game to immediately watching that Chargers game was agonizing. It's almost like they were playing different sports it was so different. Herbert battled his ass off, I would kill to have him on the Jets
Disappointing honestly, but he showed improvements and so I still can hold out hope. He should be working with a better cast next year and will be in year two with this system and coaching staff. C
How anyone and try to compare what the Jets had on offense yesterday to the chargers is beyond me. Add to that the perfect weather conditions in Vegas and you just have an agenda. Herbert is awesome no doubt but totally different circumstances. Zach was literally throwing to practice squad players with 20mph wind. Zach literally got hit on a handoff and that was common all day. He had zero chance for success yesterday. Zach will be judged on how he plays next season. Hint: He will not fail because he is too short.
An easy A. The evaluation isn’t done in a vacuum as there’s time to throw in a vacuum. How did he do against the strong Bills D? About as well or better than fellow rookie Mac Jones - even though Zach had less to work with How did he do against BB who is notoriously tough on Rookie QBs? About as well as fellow rookie TL. Does a different rookie or Sam makes this a 5 win team this year? iMO no. Does a R Wilson make this an 6 win team this year? IMO no. I miss DWC, at least his asinine posts balanced off the equally asinine yet uniquely opposite posts.
Well what's your excuse? He's tall enough to see over the line but he still runs backwards 10 yards every drop back because he likes to take 15 yard losses?
You didn't answer my question, you also point words into my mouth. I think the fact that he can't see over the line is only 1 reason for Wilson's disasterous play yesterday, not the only reason of course. I wish you would answer my question though. If you think he has no problem seeing over the line then why do you think he runs backwards so much? That's a tell tale sign of a QB who can't see
The question is so absurd it does not deserve an answer. Watch the line play you will get a big hint.
Based on the whole season, he's a solid C. He obviously has talent, and showed flashes, but he also made quite a few bonehead moves. I still think about a shovel pass that he made early in the season. He was in a panic, and it was almost intercepted. A few games later he did it again. I also think losing Coach Knapp so suddenly and tragically was a big blow to his development. The Jets later brought in his personal coach, which seemed to help. I hope Zach improves over the off season, or we will be drafting a QB again.
How many people said he was too short? Without wishing to re-read the whole thread I thought I recall one person saying this, one person. Don't make it a thing because one person said something daft. edit two people then
