I don’t know if it was the same exact injury, but Mahomes did come back very quickly from a dislocated kneecap. https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-sup...mahomes-dislocated-his-kneecap-172834160.html
What? Check the article I just posted above. Mahomes didn’t tear anything and dislocated his knee cap.
He had a dislocated knee cap?! What part of that do you not understand? If you dislocate the knee cap it must be rehabilitated each and every time it gets dislocated. Now, they may have decided not to have surgery correct the dislocated knee cap but even if his surgery was to clean up bad cartilage that still requires dislocation the knee again or else you can't clean out the cartilege.
there's MORE to it than what you're claiming and it certainly had ZERO similarities to Bectons injury. In Mahomes case, it must have IMMEDIATELY been relocated. Because it only takes a minute or so for it to swell up like a gd GRAPEFRUIT. On top of that, he must have had doctors draining his knee daily, and he must have had corrective surgery in the offseason. That is NOT what happened to Becton. Becton went to the turf with his knee cap dislocated which every single ligament was stretched being recognition in the process.
Compared to most bones the patella is a free floating bone, meaning it doesn't directly articulate with another bone, but is surrounded by thick cartilage and a ligament extender which attached to the shin. There are different kinds of patella dislocations that vary in terms of severity, usually by how much cartilage is torn, and if the extender which attaches to the shin is intact. Mild dislocations can heal without surgery, but if enough cartilage or the ligament is damaged surgery will be necessary to repair it properly.
You just said there’s zero chance you can dislocate your kneecap without tearing any ligaments. But Mahomes did? I’m not a doctor and don’t really care to try to play one. Are you? I say that with all sincerity and not trying to be a smart ass. What I do care about is that Becton missed an entire season and faced 3 separate injuries as a rookie. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a players weak or too heavy or whatever. They could just be unlucky. But when they consistently get hurt, they become injury prone even if two in a row seem like “freak” injuries.
Why is there a need to attack my understanding? I feel my assessment of Becton situation is very fair and factual. I have said from the beginning he had a really good first season in both run blocking and also in pass protection, where he improved in the last half of the season. He looked like he was headed to sure Pro Bowl future. NFL execs voted him as 6th best OL in NFL that that would like to have after the first year. The only concern I had after the first year was that he skipped or left early 5 games due to injuries, so I was hoping he could stay healthy this season. Instead what happened was that he didn't really have a great training camp even according to his own coaches, had a few injuries there, and finally out for the season in game 1. I have provided an article showing said rehabilitation was 4-8 weeks before playing for his exact injury and a quote by Saleh that it took him a lot longer because he is a "big human" and that he needs to come in shape next season. So, there you have my take one this: great talent to be that top 10 OL shown in year 1, but significant concern about injuries and whether he can come and stay in shape of 364lb or less he had in College and come close to achieving his potential.
I understand now what happened to Mahomes and it's It's not the same injury. It's not even close. Mahomet dislocated but very quickly put it back in while his leg was straight. Not so with Becton. With that said, I am some sort of amazed he was out only 2 weeks. That fucking hurts so bad I can't even begin to describe and my knee swelled up so bad. It looked like a purple, splotchy pumpkin....
Don't forget the tendon that keeps the patella in the groove of the leg. And I personally do not see ANY way you can dislocated the patella to the outside of the knee without ripping that off the bone?
That's what I'm saying yes... you can tear or rupture the patella ligament and decide to NOT have it reattached......
Again though. What does the post medical care matter? You said it can’t happen. Obviously it can. Obviously he didn’t tear anything. Period. And you keep insinuating he did and it’s impossible that he didn’t.
I cannot understand the hard on so many have for this guy. Truly mind boggling. This guy's potential is off the charts. I'm looking forward to him coming back in the best shape of his life and being a one man wrecking machine.
If he ruptured the patella tendon (I have done this) he would be out even longer and 4-8 weeks would havenver been mentioned.
No, to the media and fanbase to shut the fuck up about his being injury prone and/or his not having returned from his injury because he's lazy and doesn't want to play.
He plays and the noise is gone. He keeps getting hurt and the noise gets louder. He's gonna have to either deal with it or get himself traded. The Fans can say whatever the fuck they want to say since they're the ones paying the prices and buying the swag. No fans? no team. His arrogance is becoming annoying. Talk shit AFTER you prove it on the field, not before.
I agree with the caveat that he really shouldn't care what the fans think. They don't know all the facts and the Jets have a pretty dumb fanbase. He should just concentrate on playing football.
He's basically calling out all of his doubters. I see it as him being extremely motivated. I know he reads the Twitter comments and it most likely pisses him off....and that's a good thing. I want to see him come out next year like a raped ape. I want him mauling people. And honestly I think that is what we will see. I'm excited!
