Gonna be a cold game in Green Bay tonight. Kickoff temp to be 5 degrees, with in wind chill in the negative.
Ok snow lovers , first significant snow of the winter could be Thursday into Friday. Not huge but a 2-4 event making a mess of the morning commute.
FJF...You beat me to it...in fact the pattern begins to change on Tuesday but you are correct sir...an event that merits an eye or two. Temps might be an issue...for coastal. But it has good model backup and the only negative I will add about it for snow lovers is in the past...with my significantly small pea brain....I have found the models usually screw up getting their arms around the first event of the year. Now again...I mean...you need a microscope to truly see this brain of mine when it gets wrapped up with weather..so grain of salt kids...grain of salt. Thursday night/Friday..with an event perhaps on the heels of this one.
A friend returned from a week in Vermont yesterday. Same ski trip she takes every year. This year no skiing. Not enough snow? Well, there was some snow down. What was the problem? Pea-soup fog almost every day made the slopes not safe because visibility was very limited. It was worse than trying to ski in a snow storm. Strange days indeed.
All the snow is on the other side of the world and trust me...that DOES happen. Japan for instance is buried...and I mean buried. They have certain provinces that have had a snowstorm a night for over a week.
You probably won’t see green grass again till Memorial Day Your in that 3”-5” range. quick storm with a big thump and cold temps
3" down at 5am and snowing hard when I started my normal 20 minute ride into work. Took 45 today but I feel bad for the people not in an AWD vehicle. The road conditions were probably hell for them. Guessing the morning commute will be nasty.
I live maybe 3 or 4 miles from MetLife. Just measured a legit 6" on my deck! I really didn't believe we'd get this much.
I used to be a big skier. I used to look forward to days like this. I would call in sick, and drive up to the mountains. I would make fun of my parents when they complained about the snow. Now that I'm old, I don't ski anymore. Snow has become a big nuisance to me.
Yeah, snow needs to be shoveled whereas rain just flows away. The Ski season apparently is sucking in the NE this year. Had a friend come back from Vermont complaining about foggy slopes that were dangerous.
With the heavy rain storms we had last summer, I don't know which is worse. I think I'd rather shovel snow than pump 14" of water out of the basement! LOL! I haven't been keeping up with the ski reports, but I did see one that mentioned ridiculous fog up in Vermont. Some people focus their one winter getaway on a particular weekend, and then to have the weather turn out like that is a bummer. Fireplaces in the cabin are nice, but there is no substitute for a great day on the slopes.
I wish they'd gotten video of the foggy slopes. My friend said the fog was misting up off the snow and it was like trying to ski in a fog bank. I'd love to have seen that.
