To be honest, I wasn't sure at the beginning of the season if making the Zach the starter on Dat 1 was the right thing to do, but once they didn't sign a decent vet - and by that I mean someone who would be better than Zach, but not someone who Zach couldn't beat out at some point - I thought that starting him was the right choice. What muddied that up was the shitshow performance of the OL and LaFleur's struggles in calling the offense in the beginning. In hindsight it was a good thing that Zach got hurt and got a chance to regroup and to see things from the sideline. I think his performance since he returned has shown that he did his homework and put it into practice. To use my analogy: he's discovered what "balance" means.
Zach Wilson plays his best game as a pro, the team plays their best overall game of the season and this place is a cesspool. We are the worst fanbase.
Ok, I will. I've been here like 10 years or something and never put anyone on ignore but that may not be the right decision. I'll give it a try
It was a joke, actually. That's what he said to me before he dramatically announced in the game thread that he was putting me on ignore. Reminds me of another shell of a poster.
I think zach did just about everything he could do. He ran the offense effectively, passed well/ accurately, prolonged some plays with his legs, made good decisions over all. I also liked how brady gave him some praise when they met after the game. That may just be bullshit talk but a rookie qb on a subpar team almost beat him, he seemed magnanimous towards zach.
Go for it. Maybe someone else will let you know what they think about your football takes. Again, you said you didn't see a single bit of improvement from Wilson since game 1. Not only is that a really ignorant take, anyone who agrees with it is as blind as you are. Revel in your new friends.
This was the first game where I felt Wilson had a grasp of this offense, he was decisive, accurate, confident. Moved around well, got through his reads, was a quick thrower the majority of the game. This was the first game that I felt Wilson may be the real deal. It was almost a complete game. Almost. The one thing I really disliked was the lack of common sense on that 4th & 2. I don't care the reason, who's to blame, etc... It's 4th & 2. You don't go QB sneak there. Ever. Even If the coaches didn't convey or relay that fact to Wilson. Common sense should've relayed that to Wilson anyways. It was dumb. That's something that can be learned from though, as long as he takes accountability there and realizes the mistake. His presser, clearly suggests he needs someone to tell him he was wrong there. Otherwise. Let's see it again against the Bills now. Looking forward to it.
Statistically with no context Zach's performance was C-level. Of course that completely ignores the talent gap between the Jets and Bucs, so Zach deserves at least a B. If there were pluses and minuses, I'd give him a B+ or maybe even an A-. But given the QB sneak, I can't give him an A. So a B it is.
Agreed 100%. Future Zach probably audibles out of that play. Baby Zach went with it and with any luck, learned not to stick his hand into a roaring fire again. BTW, Congrats on the OSU win! That was a helluva game. That kid will be a great QB one day if he keeps his level of play where it was in that game.
Thanks. It was a good game and showcased a lot of what's to come for OSU. I'm excited for Marvin Harrison JR, kid looked damn good In the rose bowl. Stroud really flashed some really good things too, If he develops some more, he will be the real deal coming out of college I think. Let's hope we got the real deal In, Wilson. I'm cautiously optimistic right now because we've seen this feel good story before, at the end of the year with, Sam Darnold. That story didn't have a good ending for us. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed.
I was a fan of the LaFleur hire but I'm hoping he gets fired or takes another job somewhere else. This was a winnable game that in the end put the game on a bad 2 yard QB sneak. The Bucs were waiting for it. I could live with any other play like a rollout of even an incomplete pass. But they didn't even try to win it. Maybe they want more top two draft picks. I loved how Zach played and the Jets just need to get him some receivers. Hopefully, Yeboah can progress, and if they can find a stud WR in the draft that would help Zach alot.
You know there’s 0.0% chance he’s fired right? And he’s not getting offered a HC job this year. I can’t understand why you’d want the first above average OC we’ve had in a million years to get fired or leave. Severe overreaction to one play while ignoring two months of very solid work.
Two months of solid work? Sorry but at this point, LaFleur is not above average. He blew a winnable game like he had money on the Bucs. Well, if he's not fired I hope someone else offers him a head coaching job. Should be a few teams looking for Adam Gase type playcalling. The players played great just hate losing a game like that on a horrible play call.
