No way the coaches called that play. Saleh was losing his mind after it was ran. my guess is that ZW did that on his own and may have not realized he needed 2 yards.
I have been tweeting that I thought that was the dumbest play call since the Pete Carroll SB pass play that got picked. Ok so maybe ZW had a sneak option on the GL against that D, how could the option be a QB Sneak up the middle into Suh and Vea? THAT IS RIDICULOUS! Edit - sorry, forgot about McLendon.
Not sure what's worse. Watching them botch it on the field to lose the game or having them admit afterwards that it was either gonna be a gimmick reverse or a QB sneak
It was s'posed to be a gimmick reverse... which would have probably worked. Zach fucked it up by being stupid.
It would not have worked. They went to that well too many times. 4th & 2 with the game on the line and the defense stacking the box you dont run a play that goes backwards. Awful coaching & execution there. And to make matters worse they blame it on the rookie QB? WTFFFF
Heres the hate.....i was waiting. There wasnt much else to complain about. Clearly based off of what was said, it was a clear miscommunication.
I know, really. They make it sound like the play they had called was some stroke of brilliance. It was only marginally lest stupid than the sneak.
Same scenario, flipped, does Bill Belichick tell reporters what the playcalls were and blame the lack of execution on his rookie QB? hahaha I almost didn't get the sentence out. Some adults are needed in that coaching office
Why was QB sneak even an option here? We just tried that before and could not get half a yard. And Fant was now injured too on top of it. Saleh is right - this was a poor communication by the coaches. There should have been a clear call made, which was either a pass or a Barrios run - whatever it is. But QB sneak should not be an option AT ALL in this case.
The defense woulda never expected them to run the same play they ran 5 times in the last 2 weeks! LaFleur is a dammed genius, very innovative.
Just watched it a few times. Looks like it had a good chance the way the Bucs were lined up. Zach never considered the option. He bulled ahead as soon as he got the snap. Dumb play whatever the reason. It was a long yard to gain. A QB sneak would have never worked.
Then make it fucking clear to Zach that is the call. If you give QB sneak as the option - you will get the result we just got.
Just watched it…it was a quick motion reverse that would have definitely worked but Wilson kept it for inexplicable reasons. I guess the coaches gave him the option if for whatever reason there was a wide open gap, which there clearly wasn’t. Rookie mistake, oh well, learn and better draft pick in the process
