For me, the 70's were worse. Granted, I was just a lad then, so I knew there would be many moons ahead of me as a fan, there's less moons now, so maybe in hindsight it is worse now...
Inside the dysfunctional decade of New York Jets and Giants football - What went wrong, what's next? (espn.com)
Like, Noam, AndyDrums, justwinit, CC, Cman, others .... after 54 years I am numb. I don't even yell at the TV anymore! My wife use to leave the house when the games came on because I was OOC but now, she comes in and looks to see if I am still breathing, LOL. I took the acronym SOJ because that is exactly how I felt over the years and still feel that way. I know CC has all his hopes wrapped up with JD&RS but unlike him, I have little faith in a FO that has a record of 12-34 from 2019. AS for the cheerleader HC and his CS, his team has a losing record. Enough said, changes need to be made on the CS, player accountability and if he doesn't make them, then you'll see the same shit show your seeing this year.
I didn’t know that goober hired a search firm to find Idzik too. After Paton and DeCosta wouldn’t even take the phone call because of the keep Rex/trade Revis mandates.
Yeah if I remember correctly it was some corporate consulting firm that had jack shit to do with professional sports.
Yep... Woody was and still is that stupid...Keep in mind he trumped that act of stupidity by letting his lil bro Chris crash the Jets into the ground like a fckn dart.
Everyone loves to kill Woody but Leon Hess was the worst. The only thing he did right was hire Parcells and that lasted 2 years. Don't forget that this was a man that jumped at the chance to hire Rich Kotite. He was the guy that fired Pete Carroll after one year. He meant well but he was a fucking idiot who didn't even have a GM until the last years of his life.
Hess was a way better man than Woody though. Way better. Hess was a WWII vet who served under Gen Patton, playing a key role in the defeat of the Nazis as he was the Petroleum Supply officer. Hess also deeply cared about the Jets players and really wanted the Jets to be a winning franchise. When Dennis Byrd was paralyzed, Hess would visit almost daily for hours, just sitting by his hospital bed swapping stories about the war and his father's butcher shop for example Woody is a trust-fund douche who tweets every week about their uniforms (its true, look it up). The Jets are simply his stupid hobby. Fuck Woody Johnson. Its been over 20 years now for Woody too, so its not like he has the crutch he can lean on of having less losing years than Hess any more
Therein lies the reason for almost 6 decades of futility: two incompetent owners overseeing that entire span of failure. When you think about it, maybe moving the Jets to London would be a good thing.
I couldn't give a rat's ass about their character. I want an owner who wants to and knows how to win. Woody has come closer than old man Leon, the great guy that he was. Yes he cared and wanted to win badly but the fact that he tripped over his dick every chance he got makes him an idiot in my book. Great guy, shitty owner, fucking dunce.
The downside of a Jets move out of the area is that the Giants would fight tooth and nail to prevent an AFC expansion team or another franchise relocating here. Particularly if the new team was actually playing in downstate NY or NYC proper.
So you got 12 years under Hess. 4 playoff appearances 1 division title 21 years under Woody 6 playoff appearances 1 division title that doesnt look like its any closer/better to me
