The Fins will be fine in Miami for the next 10 years. If the Bucs move to the UK the logical move for the Fins will be to build their next stadium on a piece of land not going under water in 20-25 years. They'll move north and central in Florida and try to pick the next beachfront location that will draw people in the future. Figure them to maybe even move to Tampa or just east of there.
Oh we have an identity alright. Our identity is L O S E R. From the Adam Gase loser helmets and unis that just exude incompetence, to our head coach telling a guy like me who has watched this garbage for more than 50 years that "Jet fans have never seen anything like this change in culture and we have to be patient", to our #2 overall pick QB who can't complete a screen pass telling us he's not worried about losing or getting better, to our pathetic draft history which I have mentioned too many times here already to repeat, to the fact that nobody here could name 5 NE Patriot players, 5 GB Packers, 5 Arizona Cardinals, 5 Baltimore Ravens etc, (with the exception of their star players), yet these teams are always competitive regardless of covid, injury, or whatever the f**k. Even the Steelers, they looked done a few weeks ago but are back again in contention. It's called knowing WTF you are doing which we clearly do not. This organization seems to exist in an alternative reality. What they do every week is totally incongruent to the rest of the league. You watch real NFL teams play, then you watch the Jets play and it is akin to watching a pro game and a JV high school game. Been saying this for years now and have never felt it more than I do now - the NY Jets are the most insignificant franchise in all professional sports. The only ones who care what they do, is us poor sucker Jet fans. And you guys know what is the saddest thing to me? Never being able to come here, log in and write positive posts and thoughts about my favorite sports team. Instead, I / we always have to write negative crap to vent and get the bad feelings out of my / our system(s). I would love nothing more than to come here and write about how great our future hall of fame QB was playing, and how much I am looking forward to going to our playoff game in a month to freeze my ass off (because NY/NJ are too f****ng stupid to build a domed stadium), or the catch that my WR made to win a game. It always has to be negative. So sad. SMH.
FYI: St Johns county, most of which is the city of Jacksonville, is the richest county in Florida based on median household or family income.
Whoops, my bad! I got it reversed in my mind with Duval, the adjacent county. St Johns is part of the market area for greater Jacksonville which the NFL defines as a 75 mile radius. It is Duval that Jacksonville is largely contiguous with and essentially shares a government. Duval is rated as the 20th richest county of the 67 in the state. Like most large cities in the US, the Jacksonville area has much demographic diversity and plenty of people who can well afford football tickets and travel. And like most of the teams with which we are familiar people are loathe to financially support a consistently poor product.
I know we all have hopes for 2022, but in reality we'll only go as far as Zack's arm can take us. 100% of our hope for 2022 is in Zacks's development. Let's pull for a good final showing in 2021 to give us something to be hopeful for. If Zack ends the season the way he started, you can forget about 2022.
Most of that St. Johns county $$$ is rt across the Duval county line in Ponte Vedra.... JAGS have actually had better attendance than the other two FL teams (until the Tampa super team) but fans have had enough.... they sucked even worse than the JETS and apathy is at an alltime high
I always thought the NFL should enable a true "Franchise Player" rule... where one player on each side of the ball doesnt count against the salary cap. This designation can only be applied if said player was drafted by the team or has played X amount of years for the team..... now granted, with all the shitty draft picks the JETS make it wouldnt help much now, but there was a time...
Did anyone else not even think to look at the Pro Bowl rosters this year? That shit might as well not exist to me anymore.
What they need to do is have a losers tournament like the NIT for all of the shit teams to fight over draft position. It could be called the Tankoffs. It would be the opposite of competition, RBs would be running for 500 yards a game against our defense. Nobody could beat the Jets then.
It's obvious that this off season upcoming is the one that Douglas has planned himself to set this franchise up now. I appreciate the plan and this franchise needed a set long term plan to fix the last decade. However, as a Joe fan, this off season has to show into a marked improvement when we start playing games next year. Next year, I want us to be excited, obvious talent on the roster and most of all, in every game unless we play the superbowl calibre teams. Won't say W/L yet, but we need to see it from game 1. Well if Zach is going to end well he'd better start it this weekend because the Bucs are going to be tough and the Bills are going to be absolute hell. I kind of expect the coaching staff to throw Mike White out there against the Bills to see if he gets the post-game interviews right this time.
The NFL really needs to figure out relegation. There is not enough of a penalty in place for the owners who are bad year after year.
I can't wait that long. I'm going to be 92 that year. Lately I've started thinking about that 99 year old Red Sox fan who died the year before the Sox finally won. I don't want to be that guy.
