I know he has the five year deal but you can’t whiff on that 2020 draft class as bad as he did. It’s just unacceptable. We’re talking about 0 guys, maybe 1-2, that will be here for a second contract. Becton and Hall and even Becton is questionable. 2021: It already appears Wilson is not the guy. Not because we are a bad team but anyone watching him knows he’s getting worse and worse. Lacks fundamentals and can’t make the basic passes it appears. Really down on him right now tbh. there is no magic formula. We didn’t HAVE to draft Wilson last year. Even if we let Darnold go. As a talent evaluator, I am not sold at all. Even AVT looks average.
Joe D is now 12-33 as the Jets’ GM. They would have been 9-36 if I were the GM, but then again I would have just cost them free beers at the concession stand.
I'll say this, Just like Sam you gotta see what he can do w/talent around him and unfortunately it isn't happening and the kicker, WE DID THE SAME SHIT W/SAM!! The killer here was JD blowing up the roster and then starting him immediately. That makes ZERO sense. His lack of moves is one thing but when the moves you actually make only yield lateral or no progress then there's a fukin problem here.
I think it’s safe to say he is. He plays well against average teams and struggles against top defenses. Most NFL back ups do the same that’s why they’re back ups. He has his limitations but I think he can step in for a week or so and the Jets chances of losing aren’t any greater. This of course is a mute point if the roster doesn’t improve significantly this off season.
JD needs a home run this offseason. That being said I think one of this teams biggest problems are the constant injuries and the secretive nature of recovery times. The players he has signed as FAs are good signings on paper for the most part … but these injuries year after year are bizarre. How much of that is on the training staff?
JD gets next year for sure. 2020 looks lackluster so far but 2021 looks like a great foundational draft with AVT, Moore, Carter, Carter II being starters and a couple of rotational pieces.
Our fanbase is notoriously strong at defending someone currently associated with the team who hasn't had an ounce of success while associated with the team. In 35 years, the only dud who the fanbase wanted gone immediately was Gase and that's because they never wanted him hired in the first place (for good reason). Everyone else (and there have been a ton in 35 years) has been defended two years past the time it was obvious he was incompetent.
It may not look good right now but so far JD gets an incomplete. This coming offseason will show a lot and whether he finishes his contract I think.
Shit, I think this is also a contender for most accurate post of the year!! We've all become psych majors because of this team. We can analyze and break down our mental fortitudes w/amazing accuracy.
There was Idzik. But like Gase, he wasn't attractive (and I mean this a purely superficial sense), so he was attacked immediately.
He also came in weak. Nobody got fired when he came in. Nothing changed in personnel. The tabloids will take a half move and savage everybody involved. There's a great line in Jeremiah Johnson when he comes across some homesteaders who have set up in Indian country. As he leaves after talking to the parents the kids come out of the corn crib where they've been hiding during the visit. He looks at them and then he looks at the parents and says "it won't save anything." When you make a move in professional sports hiding the kids in the corn crib won't save anything. Better to move everybody out and give the new guy a clean slate to work with.
