Would love to but a guy who was benched for disciplinary reasons on a terrible team would probably not fare well emotionally on a slightly less terrible team. A contender will claim him, he'll have a resurgence and we'll sign him for big money this offseason.
The Texans are dumping every single decent player they have. Why? Because none of them want to be there. Any player who has signed a contract and has an ounce of pride wants to get the hell out of the single largest dumpster fire in all of sports. They don’t like ownership, and who can blame them. Franchise QB demands out. -Charles Omenihu gone. -Bradley Roby gone. -Mark Ingram gone. -Shaq Lawson gone. -Now Zach Cunningham gone. -Eric Reid benched. Every decent player they have is speaking out and is being dumped for pennies or nothing. They have a huge culture problem.
Pretty sure, but considering the Texans waived him only the Lions and Jaguars would be in front of the Jets.
I'd snatch this guy up in a heartbeat. Would help fill a huge hole at LB and gives us a 5 game tryout to see if we want to re-sign him.
Not to say we’re anywhere near the disaster that is the Texans with their pastor leading all football decisions, but wouldn’t these guys also come here and just mail it in for the rest of the year as well? Loved Cunningham out of college. Never followed him a lot in the NFL but he always has a billion tackles and got a nice contract from them.
Not sure of of the discipline but if it's not earth shattering. Claim him. Worse case he continues what got him disciplined and we release him. The Jets need a lb and he can do that and do that well. Be a great addition for us.
I would think he'd want to try and play well down the stretch considering he's going to be a FA in the offseason now. Wouldn't be the best look to mail it in IMO but he also just got a very large contract that I'm assuming HOU will still be on the hook for so it's possible.
He's got no guaranteed money in 2022. Houston is on the hook for the money they've already paid him. So it's in his best interests to finish out strong somewhere. He'll get every snap here but he'll be playing for a terrible defense which will probably hurt his case. I just can't see it going well here and I don't think we end up with him regardless unless Douglas wants to audition him for his next contract.
Apparently the standards are only for players, not for the ownership and front office members. Not an endorsement I really care about. The Jets are a bottom 5 team this year and they made the Texans look like they didn’t belong in the same stadium.
I mean… we only won by a touchdown and out gained them by 64 yards. That Texans team beat the Titans worse than we did. Organizationally they’re an absolute disaster with the Watson stuff, the weird coach hiring, the holy guy leading all decisions and ownership. But we didn’t really run them off the field.
