I have a Joe DiMaggio pin of my Mom's from around 1938. It's probably worth about $300 bucks but I don't get into these things. That's my only Baseball claim to fame. And I hate Baseball.

I have the 1984 complete TOPPS set still in the factory box.... what do you think that would be worth?
(If I remember correctly, it wasnt the best year, and Straw and mattingly (mvp) were the only real good cards thats year

I don’t know as much about it as Hackett does, but I think around 1976-1978 is the threshold for super high valued “common” cards because they started mass factory producing after that. I have a ton of box sets from the 80s and most of the cards are useless.

Had McGwire/Clemens rookie cards graded because at top grades they both reach around $5-6k with 10’s. They were in the set for 20+ years untouched by my dad. Grades came back in the 7’s because they were cut with uneven border frames while the condition was great.

Again, no expert, but I’d imagine without any HOF rookies you won’t get all too much.

Sounds about right..... 80's we're the first generation where kids really treated them like stocks / commodities instead of playing "flip" or sticking them in the spokes of their bikes....

When I first bought my house almost 20 years ago, My dad said "now here come get all your crap we've been storing all these years".... Considering I was 27 and broke after I scraped every penny together for a downpayment I was excited thinking I could cash in all the cards I had.....then I went on ebay to see what they were selling for..... wah wah waaaaaaah :(

Was hoping some of that changed

PSA 10 84 Mattingly’s can get you $2-2500 on eBay though.

One Strawberry PSA 10 sold for $2,500, the rest are less than $700. So I’m not sure why such a big range? Says Tiffany set?

    Thanks!

I dont see how these things will grade as a "10".... theyve been in a cardboard box for over 30 years. (and were once handled by a ten year old ;)

The 1984 Topps Set is all about Strawberry and Mattingly. Those are the two cards worth grading. That set also has the 2nd year cards of Gwynn, Sandberg, and Boggs, HOWEVER, the dropoff in price for those cards from a 10 to a 9 is dramatic, so be sure they are in pristine condition before getting those graded. Same applies to the Nolan Ryan card in that set, as his cards have been hot for almost two years.

Just sold a 1982 Donruss Rickey Henderson card Graded PSA 10 for $159. I pulled this card from a sealed box of 1982 Donruss cards and sent it in. I'm considering being a cardflipper in my retirement :)

I do have an '83 Fleer Gwynn rookie card, and a couple of 82 topps Cal Ripken rookie.... While in good/decent shape, I don't see anyway they're a Bo Derek though, as they were repeatedly handled by an elementary school aged kid back in the day ;)

When you spend $250 on a Reggie Jackson rookie card, only to be notified by PSA that the card has evidence of trimming. :(

I have one. Never got it graded because I’m not sure I’d ever sell it (at least until he dies as morbid as that sounds). It was my dad’s favorite card & player. I’ll try to post a pick later and you can visually grade it.
