That wasn't even my main point. If everyone else can run comparisons though to try to make some weird positive example for Zach Wilson.. This should be applicable to.

Wilson Isn't playing our defense though, so that's a moot point as well. If we are calling out worthless comparison's and what have you.

He's playing our defense in practice though. That was always my problem with those Herm Edwards teams. Our offense was always soft after playing against that frigging marshmallow soft zone with a bunch of nobodies trying to cover every practice.

This team reminds me of a fetal version of a Herm Edwards team.

Everybody here wished that Zach had looked good out of the gate... well everyone except @Br4d

But with his arm talent and athleticism... it is worth developing the parts of his game that are sub-par.
What choice do we have really?

If some stud QB becomes available... sure you grab him... but who would that be?
We already have Joe Flacko on the roster...

Could not have said it better. Wilson has great practices because the D is soft as shit and the game planning garbage.

He hasn’t looked very athletic though. He doesn’t run the ball and he’s a very short choppy strider. He’s mobile enough to run around more than he has. It would help his game.

Wasn’t the offense getting killed all camp long though?

I was referring to during the season, according to Saleh, coincidentally after we lost our price pass rusher

I only caught the second half of the game, so I'm grateful someone here posted every throw he made so I could see what he looked like in the first half.

Watching the second half only, it was frustrating since it looked like the same problems from the week before, and had me confused by the first half box score. Watching the first half throws, I saw a mixed bag, some nice throws that I can be optimistic about, but also some iffy ball placement throws that fall into the "nice catch" category.

I still think his best throw of the day in terms of placement was the incompletion to Corey Davis where Davis dropped it. That seemed to have really nice touch and placement, only for Davis to do Davis things.

The most frustrating throw to see was the 4th down in the 4th quarter, where he just chucked it at his player's feet. There was no chance there to even make a play for a first down.

I do wonder how much Corey Davis has set back Zach's progress from the start, in that it feels like he has had the tendency to lock in on him a lot of the time, so not only is he missing other reads, he's also throwing to Mr. Drops himself.

My biggest hope is that the ball placement issues are fixable, and errant throws become the exception instead of the norm. Clean that up, and we could have something special at QB. If not, I guess we roll the dice again in 2023?

I was thinking more about his quickness and ability to heave the ball while off platform.

We already tried a converted linebacker at qb...

2-3 where 1 was bobled but caught poorly thrown pass. Funny a win is a win. Mac was purposely not part of. I remember Rex has similar game plan, mostly run plays. Can’t remember team we played or year. But I think we also won.

I've been disappointed with Zach, but I have seen genuine progress since he came back from injury. Last week he could've completely imploded after that really awful start to the game, but he steadied himself and lifted his game to a reasonable standard, which was saying something compared to earlier performances. This week, in that first half he really showed me something. His placement was better and that allowed our skill position players to make yards after the catch. It wasn't explosive, but it was efficient, and that's what I want too see most of all – a solid foundation to build on. I thought he looked like an NFL quarterback in that first half.

The thing that concerns me now is he looks vulnerable when the pass rush gets to him. He just looks very fragile when a pass rusher gets his mitts on him. I'm worried he will get hurt again as he's taking some big hits back there.

Are you saying he's like an egg back there?

In retrospect, that's not exactly a good sign there...

Honestly, that phrase did pop into my head! It may just be the way things have played out so far, but he doesn't seem to have a feel for protecting himself when he's going to take a hit. He gets bent into some pretty worrying positions.

You see, I am not wishing Zach to fail. I see a young QB that is growing and getting used to the NFL. I have seen him overcome adversity, poor o-line play, big drops, bad play-calling and bad routes. He keeps coming back and improving. He has made throws that make you say wow. Does this mean he end up an all-pro, it certainly does not but he is passing the eye test for a first-year QB on a bad team.

Here is a good breakdown of his play this Sunday. He played really well, no matter what you want to believe.

It's almost as if you shouldn't make sweeping conclusions about a player after 7 games. One way or the other.

Everything you want to see from him. Yet it went for 0 yards because of someone else.

That was a really good video breakdown. I'm not sure how someone can can say he doesn't look like an NFL QB. He can play the position. He definitely needs to keep improving though and that comes with experience. The interception was troublesome.
