How many years do I post about this very bullshit? We never re-sign our best players when it's time to pay them. We had not 1 but 2 pro bowl Special Teams players and cap room galore and we penny pinch....again! How many times do I talk about special teams? It's the difference between 6-10 and 10-6! ad nauseam...every year I talk about this shit!!
You are right, a good team has all three phases of it’s team playing at a very high level, The jets have not had all three aspects of its team playing at a high level at the same time for years now. When the jets eventually have a good offense, defense and special teams they will be a playoff team, until then they will keep limping along as a 5 or 6 win team.
At the time, I was livid when this happened. I knew somehow they would fuck this up over pennies. Consider how hard it is to find a great kicker or build a elite ST unit, I just don't understand Macc's thinking on this. Already, this shit is biting us in the ass and I have a feeling this will be what stops this team from the post season along with the many holes on the OL and secondary.
I am here to admit that so far I am wrong about this. I expected stability by now. I still hold onto a morsel of hope that Vedvik can settle down and become the kicker we need, but he needs to show SOMETHING, and fast. That said, i was in favor of bring Matt Bryant in, who I think was equally bad in the Falcons first game. Imagine having a Will Lutz nailing 58 yarders at the buzzer? Dare to dream my friends.
