Watching tape on this kid was a pleasure. I am truly impressed and I think he’s the best player in the draft. I love Kayvon too but this Stingley prospect is unbelievable. His ball skills, speed, football iq and athleticism is off the charts. When I watch him it reminds of a better version of Jalen Ramsey as crazy as that sounds. It just so happens we need a corner worse than any other team in the league!!!
Would be totally fine with this pick. While there are positions you can draft and get by with. Nothing beat an ELITE CB or Edge rusher on D. WR, Q, or OL on o. Would be fine with this pick.
I don’t know much about Elam as I haven’t watched him a ton but Gardner is a wild boom or bust corner. His sixth sense to pick off balls is going to yield a lot of interceptions and touchdowns for the offense the other way because of how he anticipates plays. I like him though. I picked up on Roger McCreary for Auburn today who had the absolute game of his life. Stuck to receivers like glue all day.
From what I understand he had a minor foot injury and shut it down to prepare for the draft. If LSU was in the mix he would have returned. so no it doesn’t concern me at all.
I haven’t seen them yet. I’ll do some digging and let you know. Highly doubt it though. From what I saw he’s the most talented cornerback I’ve watched since Dion Sanders. Like I said he reminds me of a better version of Jalen Ramsey.
I'll tell you what concerns me then, the fact that it was injured, healed and then reinjured, then operated on and then he will have no more football until he is drafted by somebody in the top10, that is a little concerning for me.
I'm not against taking him, but our pass rush needs someone on the edge who can wreck games. We haven't had that kind of player since Abraham.
Stingley is a confusing case for me. He was heading towards being the type of corner that presses for the #1 pick after his freshman season and has now been hurt two consecutive years. The only thing is that LSU is a mess and hasn’t had the true spirit of being a team everyone’s dying to play for especially with all the off the field trash Orgeron has enabled. So has Stingley been that hurt the past two years or has he just been on 5-5/6-6 football teams that should be 10-2 every year and protecting himself for his big pending payday. Either way, ten football games in two years is a bad sign but he’s unbelievably talented.
A guy that protects himself for a payday like that is a guy that carry's a big bag with him and then downs tools when the bag is full to the brim, so I'm gonna chalk that up as another doubt lol Highly talented CB but 10 games in two years, either way, is an awful record, so that's our guy then
I'd like to think Hall can be at least a good #2. He's shown flashes of it this year. The question becomes does this CS value a shutdown CB who can be our next Revis. I would, but it's not up to me. A DL that can generate pressure matters, but so does a secondary that doesn't get burned all the time.
Our CBs are young but not awful. You’re correct Hall is probably a #2, Echols, Pinnock, Carter, Guidry, etc are all too young/inexperienced to determine but so far they’ve all played about as well as expected. The CB position is the youngest on the team. Drafting Stingley that high to me is a risk. I don’t think he’s a shut down CB and he is injury prone. It also keeps the CB position in flux. If the Jets want to add a CB to the rotation why not go the FA route? Add a little experience. I don’t know who is available but I would hope that’s the path they choose. There are many other positions hurting more especially in defense. No outside pass rush. The LB core needs at least a couple infusions. What about safety long term? In fact I’d rather the Jets draft a guy like Hamilton for safety instead of CB if they want to add to the secondary.
I dont want him because of his injuries. His production has fallen off. He scares me. I like the cb from Cincinnati instead, fits scheme.
I keep getting this feeling that if we pass on him, the team that takes him will get a stud shutdown CB for many years to come.
