He’s performed incredibly in the past two PAC-12 championship games, that’s why I’m inclined to think it was more gameplay specific and give him the benefit of the doubt. You are right in that he kept taking the long route and when he finally used an inside move he secured a sack. I think Hutch is the superior prospect at this point because of the hand movement, but I’d be good with KT. I’ve watched him enough over the years to feel comfortable with him as a prospect despite a lackluster performance. There’s something wrong with Oregon at this point in the year. They beat Ohio State at home early in the year without him yet struggled to beat Oregon State and got smoked by Utah twice. By the way - is there any doubt that Noah Sewell is going to be a stud? He still has some things to work on but I thought he was 220 pounds with how he moves until they kept talking about him at 260! The guy is a Mach truck that runs like a gazelle.
Redshirt freshman (Covid year extension) but yes he certainly looks like it. BTW for you and @MaximusD163 and anyone else - I’ll be posting in here as a “game” thread kinda deal. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/college-football-saturday.96629/
Can he play both sides? We know the team wants Becton to be the answer at LT, but he has had durability issues, but I wouldn't want to stick him at RT if he's not comfortable there.
I’m not in love with what I’m hearing about Becton. Injured, taking a long time to heal. We were spoiled with Brick Ferguson who never missed a game in his career, but I’m concerned about Becton being our long term LT answer. I’d like to see Cross play LT and move Becton to RT.
Not opposed to that. Thomas was who I wanted in that draft. His play reminded me of Brick's, not flashy, but gets the job done.
It’s interesting to see how many people slammed Thomas last year with Daniel Jones who holds on to the ball for an eternity. Granted, he’s also been hurt this yea, but when he’s played - he’s been great. The guy has looked like a franchise LT if he can stay healthy.
@MaximusD163 - looks like you were right. We’re 6 minutes into the second half and Jordan Davis is already out of gas. Unbelievable talent that’s just too big for his own good. Big boy can’t be effective at a high clip because he tires himself out too quickly.
I’m pretty sure he could drop weight, but there isn’t proof of that so it will be hard to justify a super high pick on him since he won’t be able to show that off between now and the draft
I understand that monstrous human beings that play defensive tackle like him likely won’t be able to play a high percentage of snaps but the fact that the kid is absolutely gassed 18 minutes into the game is a bad sign. I’m rooting for him though.
I haven’t noticed Neal much which means he’s doing a pretty good job. Bryce Young has had plenty of time. Nakobe Dean has elite closing speed to the ball carrier. Whether the ball carrier is 2 feet away from him or 20 yards. I love the kid. I’m anti-trade up but if they’re within reach I’d be open to moving up for him or Devin Lloyd from Utah. They’re culture changers for a defense.
Nick Bosa and Von Miller are probably the best two pass rusher prospects I’ve seen in my adult life. They beat out guys like Joey Bosa, Bradley Chubb and Khalil Mack. I think Hutchinson has surpassed both of them. His motor is great and I still think his hands are the best I’ve ever seen. His get off is good but I can’t remember well enough as to if it’s better than Von or Nick B., but it’s certainly close.
If Quincy Williams proves to be the player he seems to be these last few weeks, I don’t think LB is a big need.
I don't think the Jets will go tackle. They're going to keep Fant, who has been rock solid in pass protection. In 11 of 12 games, he's allowed no more than 2 pressures. He's proved worthy of staying even at a 10M cap number. I do remember he was horrendous at RT in the Carolina game before Becton went down so maybe the Jets do go ahead and move Becton to RT even though I'd much rather have Becton/AVT combo just mauling people all game. Hamilton is someone I haven't watched at all because I've been so against taking a safety with a top 10 pick; I don't think the positional value is there. I'll make sure to tune in for the ND vs OSU game and I'll be watching Hamilton. I also don't think the Jets take an IOL with a top 10 pick. For a talent deficient team like the Jets, dumping more first rounders into the OL is a luxury. They should look to FA to fill the RG spot (Is this the year Scherff finally becomes a Jet LOL) The Jets need playmakers on offense and defense. I'd like the Jets to snag a playmaker on the defensive side whether it's Hutch or Hamilton and a WR.
I have played the PFN draft game a ton, been reading on these prospects a ton, this is what I am thinking: *Defense first. But at what position? I think we all went through the same scenario in our head with Jamal. Are we really going to trade our safety to draft another safety? I know Ashtyn Davis stinks and Hamilton is more of a FS but I can't say we need that now. I am sorry. Maybe if we are in a position to win we go out and trade for one but teams are built from the inside out. First round picks, especially top 10 picks should be used on elite ballhawks/playmakers/OL. 1-NYJ: Ideally we take Hutcinson or Stingley but I think they will be gone if we pick 4-6. I could see this pick being either Derek Stingley or Andrew Booth JR of Clemson. Two elite CB's. It's as simple as that and would make for a much better CB unit with Hall and Carter at NB. 1-Sea. Think this will end up being in the 8-10 range. As much as I want to take Garrett Wilson, I think we either trade back and receive a perpetuity of first round picks for years to come and draft BPA. Or, we go with Kalaftantis the DE from Purdue. He is bigger, and would overlap with JFM a touch but he's pretty damn good after watching his videos. Round 2: BPA and a few prospects I hope to get> -Jahan Dotson/Drake London/Christian Harris/Zion Johson/Jordan Battle/Brandon Joseph.
Our secondary is so hilariously bad because we don't have NFL caliber safeties (and because Ulbrich ONLY calls Cover 1 on 3rd fucking down). I also think that we underplayed Eichols' importance to our D. Our second CB spot has been terrible without him.
