I’ll keep updating this as my preferences and opinions change. This is not a Top 15 Prospect Ranking, it’s a Top 15 Players I want for the Jets specifically, based on talent, needs, and availability. Edit: I changed it to a Top 15.

    2. Ikem Ekwonu, OT, NC State
    3. Jermaine Johnson, ED, NC State

    5. Kayvon Thibodeaux, ED, Oregon
    6. Drake London, WR, USC
    7. Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
    8. Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
    9. Evan Neal, OT, Alabama
    10. Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU

Is it Hutchinson over Thibodeaux because of injury risk?

No, it’s motor, technique, leadership, locker room influence, and production.

None of it is a knock on Thibodeaux but Hutchinson has set himself apart in my opinion. There isn’t even really a drop off in athleticism, he may be a touch less bendy but #2 overall on Feldman’s Athletic Freaks List for college players.

I feel like the fanbase would erupt if we took another safety with a top 5 pick.

I know, I get that people won't like it. I may alter my list over the next few months, but based on what I've seen, I think that if you have a dominant rushing front this guy is going to be a turnover machine. I think he is like 6'3" 220 so he's darn big for a safety, but has ridiculous range and is very instinctive in coverage. He's like a bigger more instinctive version of Minkah Fitzpatrick. Of course there are different ways to build the team, but I think that if you bring in this guy, he immediately helps your LB group and your CB group and your S group all at the same time. He can play FS, SS, Nickel, or LB on any given play.

Not sure who to bump, maybe booth but I would like Garret Wilson somewhere in there.

Big fan of this. I think we end up picking 6 and 8-10, so I would hope Wilson is one of those picks.

I’m pretty out on picking another OL in 1st rd, especially top 10. The OL has been improving as the year has gone on, especially since benching Van Roten. I’m not a big believer in spending 3 straight years of high 1st rd picks on OL. I think the OL will keep improving as they start to gel more. If anything I’m looking at a vet RG in FA if the doctor doesn’t look like the answer.

I certainly agree with your top 3, even being early in process I don’t see that changing as we get closer to draft time.

I just can't get behind that when you have guys like Dotson, Metchie III, London and others who might be there early round 2. It's too deep of a WR class (again) to put one of those guys top 10 even though Wilson and Burks are both really good players.

We said the same thing about the 2020 class and we ended up with the worst WR in the class in Mims.

Well to be fair the Jets traded down in the 2nd round before taking Mims. When their initial pick came up Chase Claypool and Van Jefferson were both still available.

I like Dotson and love London. Not a big fan of Metchie.

Burks is far and away the most gifted athlete and receiver in the draft in my eyes. Wilson looks like he’s going to be an easy chains mover. I only think Burks is worth the top ten pick in our situation though. He’s a fast DeAndre Hopkins.

Yeah JD totally misread the board when he traded down (unless Mims was his guy all along?). I wonder how much of that pick was a Gase pick in wanting his D. Thomas type player he had in Denver.

I know I can talk myself into it if it happens but I know this offense would benefit more from an improved OL and TE group than an improved WR group. If you do bring in Linderbaum, he helps the run game, he helps in pass pro both with assignments and with the blocking itself. When I watch this offense on tape, I'm never really saying "Why is nobody open?" I'm much more often saying "How the hell did he miss that block?" or "Why did he just get beaten so easily?"

In terms of talent, I don't think Mims is less talented than either. He is certainly more talented than Jefferson. We've seen enough of him to know what he could be. Whatever is going on with him is an attitude/work ethic or Football IQ issue. I feel like he is going to be that guy who breaks out in his contract year, goes to another team in Free Agency, and then never really does anything.

Take a look at some Charlie Kolar tape. I’m convinced he needs to be selected in the second by us which is why I’m not heavy on a receiver early on either.

I’m definitely not putting over Neal or Linderbaum, but if our 2nd 1 is in the 10-12 range and we miss on those 2 I like Wilson there no problem.

Big, big, big game for Neal’s stock on Saturday against Bama. I didn’t key on him specifically but Bryce Young was under absolute siege against Auburn.

I have to see more of this NC State guy but I’ve seen him getting a lot of love and even above Neal in other places.

Same. Daniel Jeremiah wasn’t super high on Neal and I think he does a really good job with his OL evals

I don’t like to put players into the same basket because they went to the same school, but I think the lack of huge NFL success from Alabama tackles comes from the nature of the way Saban recruits his tackles. He gets big, slower maulers and let’s the quarterback and receivers account for figuring out how to beat edge rushers that hurt them.

Jonah Williams, Jedrick Wills and Cam Robinson are all in similar massive body molds and were great players at Alabama. All are still young so the book isn’t written but zero pro bowls along the three of them. Leatherwood was getting absolutely abused at right tackle before being moved inside (which is where I thought he’d end up anyways).
