I'm of two minds on this.

First, there is unquestionably enough talent on this team to win 12 out of 19 games.

Second, we've just gotten insanely lucky to get there with a GF-GA ratio that would expect maybe 9 wins tops.

So, the question is whether the talent is going to peak and make the start real or whether the luck is going to turn and they're going to start losing a lot more often?

Rangers now 29 pts in 20 games and 13 of them on the road.

This team keeps hinting at something special but because it is a different player every game (other than Panarin of course) it's just a breeze on the wind right now.

Going to the game on Wednesday night. Looks like it's going to be Shesterkin in net (Thank God) because of the off days.

Very excited, I haven't been to MSG in 4 years and I cannot stand the Flyers.

If you lived through the Broad Street Bullies era the Flyers are always on the lowest rung of life for you.

Oh no, I'm way too young for that. I went to college down by Philly so I had to put up with their bullshit for a long time. Islanders will always stay on the top of my most hated list for me.

The Broad Street Bullies Era was just before the Islanders started winning cups. It was like the Rangers went from getting pushed around on the ice to being outskated over a decade long period.

That said, the Rangers had just enough success during the Isles dominant period that it never felt like they were being obliterated the way it did during the mid-70's when Clarke and Barber and Dutch Schultz and company would come into town and literally crush them into the ice.

I hated Potvin because every red-blooded Rangers fan hated him but I never really hated the Islanders as a whole.

If a player was wearing orange Philly gear he was the enemy, period. Even when the Flyers went from brutal to chippy (Ken Linseman being the dirtiest player in the NFL for years) the hatred did not diminish.

"You can't take a week off, you can't take a game off - you've got to show up every night and play and try and get points. That's what we've said from Day 1." - Gerard Gallant at todays press conference

Christ, I am really starting to like this guy. He is instilling some old fashioned discipline on a young team, and it is working.

I'll never forget how awesome it was when the Rangers upset the Flyers in the first round of the 1986 Playoffs. I hated Ron Hextall, and a young rookie name John Vanbeisbrouk came out of nowhere and carried the team.

Must've been rough. At least we've won more recently than the Fishsticks.

    it was pretty fking brutal.

thinking back... Jesus what a squad they had...

and the 4 cup run... statistically anomalous OT record... i figured it out once...

was it 14/17 wins in OT over 4 years? Something insane like that... damn... now i have to go check it again...

Rangers are finally looking as good as their record. We could have something going on this year.
