It’s irrelevant to us as we aren’t really looking at QB’s but do you think KJ Jefferson ends up in the league? I’ve doubted him his whole career up until recently but he’s really come on. Treylon Burks is also unbelievable. His big body and frame/catch radius reminds me of Hopkins especially when he digs balls out with guys draped all over him but he’s also faster. He got away with a very obvious OPI in my book but I’m glad they didn’t call it on that 66 yard touchdown. @IIMeanDeanII - I’m now in the Garrett Wilson camp. My friend who is a huge CFB and Ohio State fan made the Keenan Allen comparison and I think it’s right with a bit more explosiveness. Still don’t love Olave as I think he projects more to be just a deep threat.
I like Brugler as well. I wasn’t try to be an asshole, but I think the game by game and half by half breakdowns would be interesting to see if there truly is potentially a conditioning concern. They’ve held double digit halftime leads, generally by 20 or more, in nearly all their games. We should get a full picture in the SEC Championship game against Alabama and the CFP. I don’t see any path to them not getting in even if they lose to Bama.
Amazing as I've been thinking the same thing about KJ Jefferson -- that the QB position is not relevant but curious about him. 2nd game I've watched Ark in depth. When I see KJ Jefferson, = I think better version of Dak Prescott coming out of Mississippi St. RS Soph this year - should definitely play back at Ark next year. Guy was a 4 star prospect out of HS so he was real good already. I think Sam Pittman is a great college coach & Jefferson can only get better next year & shoot up draft boards. That said - even if he sniffs the 1st round 2023 - it would be best that he go later in the round to a good team like Dak Prescott & Lamar Jackson ended up doing === all of them "dual-threat" QBs. Sorry but I am looking at WRs this year for NYJ 2022 draft. Not at all. I just dont think we have the luxury of looking at WRs or RBs in the draft. We have so many holes already.
Yeah that is a huge benefit of prospects on teams like Georgia, Alabama or Ohio State. I wish we could have seen Hutchinson against the Iowa or Alabama OL this year.
I can see Hutchinson passing Thibodeaux. Not that I think it’ll happen but I think it’s possible especially if Michigan can beat Ohio State or lose and Cincinnati loses and let’s them in the CFP as a two loss. If he can showcase on the national stage he has a crack at being the top pick. I also want to highlight this dude Devin Lloyd for Utah. They play him all over the place and he’s too small to be a full time edge, but he’s just a good football player. I’d take him on the Jets in a heartbeat but I’d imagine he’ll go in the late teens. He’s always in the backfield and his instincts against the run are elite.
Charlie Kolar needs to be a Jet. He dominated yesterday against Oklahoma as much as a tightend can. His routes are crisp, he blocks, he shields defenders and he can move a bit in space.
It's not out of the realm of possibility. One thing I'll say is that knowing Brad Holmes (DET GM) comes from the Rams and the value they put on ultra-elite athletes (Donald, Ramsey) I suspect they'd go KT. Personally I've fallen in love with what I've seen from Hutchinson so if the Jets don't get him even me and my even keeled self will be pretty disappointed.
He's a beast, I believe he'll eventually be a top 5 TE in the NFL, just hope the Jets consider him. If I had to guess, Kolar will be a late Rd 1 or early Rd 2 pick. I also like Breece Hall and have a lot of respect for Matt Campbell and his program.
I would love it if we could come away with Thibodeaux and Linderbaum, but seriously doubt if we'll get both Linderbaum and an Edge. IMO it will be one or the other. Likely, our first pick will be a choice between Linderbaum and Aidan Hutchinson or maybe the Edge from USC. I love Linderbaum and think that he is a generational C prospect, but is that more important than adding an Edge? No, not imo. C is a very important position, but not a premium position like QB, OT, CB1, and WR1 imo. Also, even if I would love upgrading C from McGovern to Linderbaum, if the Jets have any doubts about Becton's future at LT, then it may be more important for them to take Evan Neal of Alabama than Linderbaum.
Isn't Okwonu projected as an OG in the NFL? That's where I'm seeing him listed on the various draft games.
I definitely agree with taking a TE over a WR, but why do you like Ruckert so much? Aren't there much better TEs rated higher than him?
I’ve seen both, Brugler likes him at OT and this was his list. Some people said that about Rashawn Slater too… different teams will probably feel differently about it too.
https://thedailyaztec.com/108502/sports/matt-araiza-punting-his-way-into-the-ncaa-history-books/ He’s not a great field goal kicker but he’s an all-world punter. Ironically he’s trying to break Braden Mann’s collegiate record. I normally would think spending another pick on a punter is absurd but this kid is a weapon. Excited to watch him today at noon in what should be an ugly football game between Boise State and San Diego State. Announcer said it perfectly - Araiza with an absolute missile. 61 yards with massive hang time downed at the 10. Unbelievable.
The Jets may play their way out of picking he or Thibideaux. I know they’ve been bad but they do have Texans, Jaguars, and another round with the Dolphins. I’m certainly not predicting it, but it’s not like it would be so unbelievable for them to end up winning 5-6 games and picking 7th or something
You have more faith in the team than I do. The Texans game on the road is a tougher one than I think most of the fan base thinks. They’re circling that game just like we are. The Saints should kick our teeth in but we’ll see what their injury situation is when they bring Siemien into town. We also beat them last time we played them at home.
Yeah… it’s less about faith and more about mitigating the disappointment that would come with missing out on those guys.
Not only is Hutchinson a complete prospect in terms of first step and pass rushing moves, he has an unbelievable motor. I wish I could get a better red on Ojabo today but Michigan keeps dropping him into coverage where he’s clearly overmatched by Ohio State’s receivers.
