1 - Surprised there isn't a thread dedicated to him
2 - any update on his injury?
3 - Is it me, or is he the best rookie RB this team has had since at least the 1980s? And the best RB the team has had since Curtis Martin (yes .. I get Thomas Jones and LT ... but this guy is running behind a mediocre OL and those guys behind a top 3 OL).

He's very hard to tackle. His vision is elite. He's shifty and elusive. And he's great in the passing game. Not to mention unbeatable character.

Excited for the future with this guy.

Love me some MC…def reminds me a little slower Ekeler, but despite his stature, he’s just doesn’t go down on first contact. And has great hands out of the backfield.

I feel like Michael Carter is the RB that every team other than Jets have found in the mid rounds while the Jets are spending big money on RBs.

Surprised there was no mention of his injury after he left til late 4th Qtr when it was already clear he was out for game.

This injury was one of those "oops I fell on your legs and then blatantly twisted your ankle while the refs ignored me" injuries.

Like everyone else that gets injured on this team that 2 week injury will turn into 3,4, maybe 5 weeks.

Always of the belief of bring in one every off season.

    Perrine didn't work out
Carter has, Johnson is a good rotation back
Let's see if we can get another good one in the mix.

I'll say one thing for JD, he seems to value, and know how to pick players of good character. Elijah Moore is a religious guy with solid character, Zack is like a 15-year-old that only wants to play football LOL. When I see what that POS Zack Stacey did, (I wish he was never a Jet and hope he spends the rest of his existence as some guy named Bubba's bitch in prison), I am glad JD is counting character so much in his evaluations. These young guys are just easy to root for. Now they all have to get good LOL.

This is the kind of blatant shit that seems to go unnoticed by the refs, the announcers and most of the fans. It wasn’t even mentioned by anyone. That was a dick move by the defender. Whatever happened to players getting fined after the fact by the NFL upon further review. Now all they do is piss all over the taunting penalty and ignore the rest.

Great point. We haven’t had a homegrown running back that succeeded in my lifetime. Meanwhile the entire league is finding guys like James Robinson and Austin Ekeler as UDFA’s and to a greater extent, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, and Jonathan Taylor in the early mid rounds.

The second round seems like the sweet spot for elite backs although starters can be found in rounds 2-4. Glad to see we got Carter who I loved out of UNC.

I think the last solid home grown RB we had was Leon Washington.

Jesus Christ with all this injuries. I really look forward to watching the games because of Carter. Sheesh. I think he will be a big player on the offensive side of the ball next year, helping out ZW to effectively move the ball.

LOVE Carter. Great pick by JD.
As far as best rookie RBs go … after Freeman, I’d say the recent bar is set at Leon Washington.
Carter was on a nice pace to outdo him, but who knows now?

Yeah … you beat me to it.
Actually I think Shonn Greene was probably the best RB we drafted in the last 20 years, but after 4 years he was done.

Leon was a nice player and Shonn Greene was ok who ended up being rather disappointing. They were contributors but I don’t really consider them to be any sort of great success. Those guys are on every NFL roster.

I'll never forget being at the Cincy playoff game back in 2010 and watching Shonn run all over their D. I thought for sure we'd found our guy.

    Happy memories lol

Yeah plus MC can do it all…it’s crazy seeing this kid who’s like 5’9” and 207 lbs, continuously move the chains forward even when you think he’s getting stopped. Def the future at the RB spot. In the meantime hopefully Ty and even Perine can show something. I still like Ty’s speed

Good job starting this thread, because MC1 could be an historical footnote in the blink of an eye. Cross your fingers.

Needless to say, NFL RB is one of the world's weirdest, most dangerous jobs. Remember the bowling ball with knives named Chris Ivory? What a nightmare for defenders for a brief stretch. That guy was ALWAYS smashing through first contact. In 2015, he ran for 1k yards for the Jets and was named to the NFL top 100 going into the next season.

He then signed with Jacksonville for three years. In 2016, he was not even listed on the injury chart through the first 11 games. Still, he somehow finished with less than 500 yards rushing, and never touched that number again.
