What's the point of starting him when he can't throw deep? The Dolphins will take away the short passes and when White tries to go long, they'll either sack him, intercept him, or the passes will fall incomplete. At least Flacco can hit on intermediate and long passes and is closer to the same way that Zach plays. Zach can learn more from watching him than he can White. As a plus, since Flacco and Mims had good chemistry last season, maybe Flacco can get Mims back on track this season.
Wilson is not playing the same reason White is not playing. The wheels are coming off and they desperately want a run of the mill 24-10 "respectable loss."
I thought there would be a bigger uproar over this. The fans jumped ship pretty quickly. Personally I'd rather see White than Flacco. I'd rather see Josh Johnson than either of them.
Or, Wilson is on week 4 of a 2-4 week timetable and they want to make sure their potential franchise QB is fully healthy.
Yes. I think if they didn't lose by a million the last two weeks he would be playing. They want to give him the "easy game" in Houston
True, unless the pass protection is weak because he doesn't want to be hit anymore. Then Flacco becomes Flingo and the INTs start flyin. With some protection he can do some damage. Also, Zach needs to be suited up even if he's not playing. He should be standing around Saleh, listening to the sideline chatter, joining in on the meetings, and being an active student. Not pacing around the bench in street clothes and headphones.
I'm no doctor but it's a bit strange that all of our beat writers were saying Wilson was already healthy enough to play vs. the Bills and was only held out to be extra cautious. And now he's not ready to start the following week? Odd.
Gun to my head I probably would have disagreed with this back in June or whatever. But now with 20/20 hindsight on how everything went I'd say its hard to argue against this too strongly. I mean.... theres no way things would be worse now. And its possible maybe Flacco would have hit a few bombs here and there, get Davis going, and eased Zach in a little more gently.
Kubiak never coached with LaFleur or Shanahan or anyone on our system. Kubiak hasn’t coached with Mike Shanahan since 2005. It’s not the same even if the running game is the same blocking scheme. In any event, maybe we should go get Kendall Hinton to play QB. Since we’re in the mood to give everyone a crack at it.
White is very good throwing short passes, but Buffalo decided to cover short passes and give White the longer passes, but he couldn't play well in that situation. In other words, the defenses figured out now to play against White. Flacco is a more well-rounded and experienced QB. He can handle different defensive situations.
My approach to this is tiered. HOPEFUL Zach just needs another week to fully recover and be ready for Houston. NEUTRAL Zach's still not ready and needs a little more time learning from the sidelines. SCARED Zach is the 3rd string QB on our roster.
The O isnt the big problem though. The Jets have moved the ball and sustained drives fairly well during the last month, whether in garbage time or not. The D has been atrocious. And 34-10 doesn't really come with a respectable tag attached.
I don’t disagree. But if the offense is not a problem this last month, then why are they changing Quarterbacks?
I mean yeah, but unless you think they were all colluding to make things up then they were probably being told by the team that Wilson was healthy enough.
