The Perfect Fit, but timing is off ...

Rutgers Ray Rice would be the perfect fit in the Jets Offense. An everydown back with game breaking ability and he can catch pretty damn well. Only problem is that he is a Soph. Can he / Will he declare? He would be Tri-State endorsement gold.

I think the only chance we have to get him is to trade up. Or we have to start considering Kenny Irons at #25.

Rice is not eligable to declare. he's a true sophmore.

hydro, teams that really need an RB: Houston, GB, NYG (there is no way they put all their eggs in the basket of Brandon Jacobs) , Cleveland could well take Peterson.... and don't discount the Broncos or even Detroit.... it looks like Kevin Jones may not be ready for the start of next season. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts Lynch isnt there when we pick.

Kenny Irons is not a first round back. He's 24, he has durability concerns, and in the many games I saw him play, he really didn't have much in terms of game breaking speed. It's hard to disrespect an Auburn guy, but he's just somewhat vanilla. I think I'd rather take a shot at a guy like Tony Hunt a little bit later on who's younger and more physical.

The Giants need a back, but of the "quarter" variety. I don't know how much good a running back is going to do them with Underdog back there with his happy feet.

Exactly... Like in sales, assume the sale.... Assume the win in the SB...

    Kevin Barlow and Derrick Blaylock....gone

i love leon, and think houston is a decent back...but lets not kid ourselves. we need a featured back. everyone knows it. our running game is sub par, and its something we need to address in the draft. imagine the game against the colts with a good rb...or the bears game...the first game against the pats...we need a guy who can carry 20 yds, and put up numbers. leons a great CoP back, but im not willing to give him the #1 spot.

Plus I don't think Rice is a big time pick now due to the Big East getting no respect yet... he needs another year or two to up his value

Green Bay and the giants are the only teams we have to worry about getting lynch especially the giants because of the lose of tiki, if lynch gets by those teams we should be set getting lynch

Leon and cedric will both stay but none of them can carry the load, barlow and blalock will be cut,So that we would have 3 rbs 4 the most if Martin returns.

We definitely need a RB, whether in the draft or elsewhere. You don't want to fall too in love with the idea that good coaching is enough. We have Washington, but we need another big, talented back to go with him. Houston is decent, but he's not going to take the running game to the next level. We need better run blocking up front and a big explosive back, those are the 2 things missing right now on offense.

Larry Johnson does okay, though he'll be burned out in 3 years.

Blair Thomas was not the pro we expected him to be, but he was completely misused by Bruce Coslet, who was a horrid coach.

You don't draft a guy number 1 and use him as a platoon back. Thomas never got the adequate carries. He fumbled in one game and was in the doghouse the rest of his tenure. His rookie year was pretty promising. I don't think he would have an all-time great, but I DO think he was ruined by Bruce Coslet, who was as I said earlier, a horrid coach.

I'm not sure if I want to go that way now. A Martin type team. If we address this in the draft and select a RB in the first or second round then either Houston or Washington won't be around for long. And I'd actually pick Houston to stay. We would be able to get somthing big for him.
